This Carers Week, we’re recognising and celebrating all carers, including the many young carers we support.

Young people who care for a parent, grandparent or family member often take on responsibilities beyond their years. Caring can bring a deep sense of connection and purpose, but it can also affect a young person’s education, friendships, emotional wellbeing and everyday life.

At Harlington Hospice, we provide support for children and young people who are living with a family member’s illness, helping them feel heard, understood and supported.

This week is a chance to raise awareness, recognise the incredible contribution carers make, and remind carers of all ages that they do not have to face things alone.

Thank you to every carer for the compassion, strength and kindness you show every day. 💙

Imagine standing at the edge of the Sahara…
Golden dunes stretching out in every direction, the sun rising over the horizon, and a sense of calm you can’t quite put into words. 🌵✨

Trek Sahara 2027 is your chance to experience one of the world’s most remarkable landscapes - not as a tourist, but as part of a team taking on an unforgettable challenge.

Picture this:
✨ Early mornings watching the desert come alive
✨ Evenings around the campfire under a sky full of stars
✨ Walking alongside people who share your sense of adventure
✨ Finding your rhythm, one step at a time

It’s an experience filled with purpose, connection and moments that stay with you long after you return home.

If this feels like something you’d love to be part of - or you’re simply curious to know more - our Fundraising Team would be delighted to chat about what the trek involves and how you can join us in November 2027.

A huge thank you to Terry Stubbs for his incredibly generous donation made in memory of his beloved girlfriend, Jackie, who was cared for by our team.

Terry recently presented us with a truly remarkable gift: a reel of banknotes all joined together, creating a donation that was as memorable as it was generous.

Every donation made in memory of a loved one helps us continue providing compassionate care and support to patients and families when they need it most. We are deeply grateful to Terry for choosing to honour Jackie's memory in such a thoughtful and unique way.

Thank you, Terry, for your kindness, generosity and support. Jackie's memory will continue to make a difference to others through this wonderful gift. 💙

This Volunteers' Week, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to every one of our incredible volunteers.

From supporting patients and families, helping in our shops, assisting at events, providing administrative support and so much more, our volunteers make an enormous difference every single day. Their generosity, compassion and commitment help us deliver the care and support that our community relies on.

To celebrate Volunteers' Week, yesterday we hosted a special afternoon tea to thank those who were able to join us. It was a wonderful opportunity to come together, share stories and recognise the invaluable contribution our volunteers make.

Hilary, one of our volunteers, shared:
"It feels a real privilege to contribute in a very small way to such a special place."

We couldn't agree more. Our volunteers are a vital part of the Harlington Hospice and Michael Sobell House family, and we are incredibly grateful for everything they do.

Thank you for your time, kindness and dedication. We simply couldn't do it without you. 💙

Wishing the very best of luck to Dan & James as they take on the Lake District Ultra Challenge this weekend, an incredible 100km loop from Kendal to Ambleside and back, with some seriously tough climbs and stunning views along the way.

They’re taking on this huge challenge in memory of their mums and in support of the care we provide at Michael Sobell House. As they shared:

“We’re both excited to be taking on the Lake District Ultra Challenge – hiking over 100K! Michael Sobell House is a special place to both of us… We’d really appreciate any donations, however big or small.”

We’re so grateful for their dedication, their heart, and every step they’re taking for our patients and families.

If you’d like to support Dan & James on their journey, you can donate here using the link below or by scanning the QR code on the photo:

Small actions, big impact - giving back to your community matters

This May, as we recognise Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re reminded that supporting others is one of the most uplifting ways to support ourselves.

On 13th September, we’ll be taking on the London to Brighton Bike Ride in aid of Michael Sobell House and Harlington Hospice - a chance to challenge ourselves, raise vital funds, and give something back to the community that supports so many.

Find out more and sign up by visiting the link in our bio.
