⛳ What a fantastic day for Croydon! 💚

Yesterday, the Civic Mayor of Croydon hosted a fantastic charity golf day in support of two local youth charities — Legacy Youth Zone and Reaching Higher.

Together, the teams and guests raised an incredible £16,000, which will be shared between both charities and help us continue delivering vital, high-quality youth work for young people across Croydon.

A huge thank you to our event sponsors FM Conway, Mulalley and Rowland Brothers, whose commitment to supporting both charities was truly visible and impactful throughout the day.

And of course, thank you to everyone who attended, played, donated, bid on our fantastic auction prizes and helped make the day such a success. Your generosity will make a real difference to young people across our borough.

It was brilliant to see so many businesses and members of the Croydon community coming together to invest in the future of our young people.

£16,000 raised. Two charities. One brilliant Croydon community. 💙
Thank you for helping us make it happen! 🙌

We want to share important guidance on online safety because, while social media plays a significant role in young people’s lives, offering ways to connect, learn, and express themselves it also comes with risks including exposure to harmful content, online bullying, peer pressure, and the dangers of sharing personal information.

At Legacy, we want to support our young people to make positive choices online and have recently noticed some trends in how young people are behaving online that highlight the importance of ongoing conversations about digital safety.

What can you do to help protect your child online?

✅ Talk to your child about what they do online and who they chat with.
🔍 Check privacy settings to keep their information secure.
🤔 Encourage smart choices – If something feels wrong, it probably is!

Some things for your child to be aware of: -
🚨 Strangers online – Not everyone is who they say they are. Always be careful when chatting with people you don’t know in real life.

📣 Sharing too much – Personal details like your full name, school, or address should be kept private!

💔 Mean comments & bullying – If someone is being unkind, tell a trusted adult right away.

⚠️ Risky trends & challenges – Not everything you see online is safe to try. If you're unsure, ask an adult.

To support this we are planning to implement phone-free zones and deliver workshops in online safety.

If you ever need advice or have concerns, we’re here to help.

Safeguarding Week 2026!

Who can I talk to if I'm worried?

Need to talk?

Sometimes things happen that don't feel right, make you uncomfortable or leave you not knowing what to do. You don't have to figure it out on your own.
At Legacy, you can talk to any member of our team if:

👀 Something doesn't feel right
💬 You’re worried about something happening to you
🤝 You’re worried about a friend
📱 Something is happening online
❤️ You just need someone to listen

You don't need to know what to call it or be sure that it's a big deal. If it matters to you, you can talk to us.

We'll listen and help you work out what happens next.

If you're a parent or carer and have a safeguarding concern about a young person, please contact Legacy directly and we will ensure your concern reaches the appropriate member of the team.

This week, we are joining organisations across the Onside network across the country to highlight the importance of keeping young people safe. Throughout the week, we'll be having conversations with our young people about:

💬 Speaking up when something doesn't feel right
🤝 Knowing who they can talk to
📱 Staying safe online
👀 Recognising when a friend may need help
❤️ Looking out for one another

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.
