Merton Music Foundation We organise large scale concerts and events and actively contribute to the national discussion about music education.

Our vision is a borough where music resonates along the corridors of every school and echoes throughout the community; a place of aspiration where every child can find their first notes, make progress and flourish as a young musician. What We Do

Exciting news for pupils at Lonesome Primary School!

From September, we’re delighted to be offering music lessons in school, with opportunities to learn piano, trumpet and singing.

Learning an instrument or developing your voice is a fantastic way to build confidence, creativity and new skills, all while having fun through music.

A huge well done to our Melodica Maestros! 👏

This amazing group of Year 3 pupils, all of whom took part in our original Mini Musicians pilot programme, performed at the Sounds of Intent Conference at University of Roehampton earlier this week.

They did a fantastic job and we received lots of lovely feedback about their performance afterwards.

We were also pleased to share insights from our Mini Musicians project as part of the conference programme, leading to some really positive conversations with colleagues from across the sector.

We’re incredibly proud of everyone involved!

A huge thank you to for giving MMF’s Soundwave Music Centre in Mitcham a fantastic glow-up.

Their vision and hard work has totally transformed the space…creating a new podcasting studio, live recording room, dedicated office and band rehearsal room. The improvements didn’t stop there, with new carpeting and stylish wooden wall panelling helping to make the centre feel even more welcoming and inspiring.

We can’t wait to see how our young musicians, bands and creative projects make the most of these upgraded spaces.

“We’re delighted to be able to give young people in Mitcham the opportunity to make music in this space. We hope it will inspire them to explore their potential and to express themselves creatively with sound.”
