This week, the Lancashire Cluster - Marsden Heights Community College, Accrington Academy and The Hyndburn Academy - is proud to welcome The Paul Canoville Foundation for a very special launch event celebrating an inspiring year ahead

Hosted at Marsden Heights and broadcast across all three schools, students will hear first-hand from former Chelsea FC footballer Paul Canoville, whose powerful story reminds us that no matter the challenges, resilience makes the difference.

The Foundation team will then spend time in each school, meeting students and exploring our communities. There are some amazing opportunities ahead, and this is just the beginning. We can’t wait to share more!

"We must unlock these cages full of bullying, pressure and anxiety before it's too late for a whole generation"

Lila is in Year 9 at Heath Lane Academy. Last Thursday she stood up in the Canoville Suite at Stamford Bridge and delivered a handwritten speech about women in football that stopped the room.

She was the overall winner of our IWD 2026 performance competition, and her words deserve to be read in full.

Sponsorship that shows up.

A huge thank you to Lava Advisory — our headline sponsor for IWD 2026 at Stamford Bridge. Sunil, Freddi and Summer didn't just put their name to the event. They came to the Canoville Suite, spoke to the room about why they chose to support the day, and stayed to see every pitch, performance, and prize.

When sponsors invest in events like ours, they're not just backing a day — they're backing the young people in the room and the work that happens long after the event ends.

We're proud to have as part of Team Canoville.

There's something powerful about hosting an International Women's Day event in the Canoville Suite — the room named after Chelsea FC's first Black player and our founder, Paul Canoville.

Last Thursday we welcomed students from across the country to Stamford Bridge for our second annual IWD event, and we're grateful to the Chelsea Foundation for their continued support in making it possible. Alice Braybrook from the Chelsea Foundation joined as one of our changemakers, bringing the perspective of the club's community arm to a table of students in our Change Lab.

The relationship between our Foundation and Chelsea FC is rooted in Paul's story. Events like this are where that story continues to grow.

When The Football Association sends someone to your event, it says something about the work you're doing. When that person rolls their sleeves up and sits at a table with young people for an entire morning, it says even more.

Omari Elliott from The FA joined us at Stamford Bridge last Thursday as one of our IWD 2026 changemakers. He brought the perspective of football's governing body to the Change Lab, guiding students through a Give to Gain challenge and contributing to the judging of the winning idea.

Our relationship with The FA is one we're proud of. Moments like this are where it comes to life.

Show Racism the Red Card has been one of our closest partners, and last Thursday Martina Barton represented the organisation brilliantly as one of our IWD 2026 changemakers.

Martina's work in anti-racism education made her a natural fit for our Change Lab. She guided a table of students through a challenge rooted in the Give to Gain theme, drawing on SRtRC's deep experience of engaging young people in difficult conversations and turning them into action.

When two organisations who believe in the power of education come together in the same room, the students feel it.

Alexa Loukas works at the frontline of youth engagement through Fearless, the young people's service from Crimestoppers. Last Thursday, she was in the Canoville Suite as one of our IWD 2026 changemakers.

Alexa's work is about giving young people the confidence to speak up and take action — which made her a perfect fit for a Change Lab table tackling this year's Give to Gain theme. Her students rose to the challenge.

The connection between our Foundation and Crimestoppers continues to grow, and Alexa's involvement on the day is part of that bigger picture.

Niall Couper spends his working life fighting for fairness in football through FairGame. Last Thursday, he brought that same energy to the Canoville Suite.

As one of our IWD 2026 changemakers, Niall facilitated a Change Lab table where students explored what it means to give to gain for gender equality. His experience campaigning for structural change across the football pyramid gave students a lens that went beyond the pitch.

When we talk about allyship, we mean people like Niall — showing up, doing the work, and committing to what comes next.

You might know Frederick Afrifa from The Apprentice. We know him as someone who shows up.

Frederick joined us at Stamford Bridge last Thursday as one of our IWD 2026 changemakers. An athlete and entrepreneur, he brought a combination of ambition, directness, and genuine warmth to his table of students during our Change Lab.

Frederick is no stranger to the Foundation — he's been part of our events before and continues to be a committed member of Team Canoville as a Patron.

Some partners send their logo. Andy Pitchford shows up.

Andy joined us at Stamford Bridge last Thursday as one of our IWD 2026 changemakers, representing the University of Westminster — the academic partner behind our ABC eLearning programme, developed in collaboration with Kick It Out.

But Andy wasn't there just to observe. He rolled his sleeves up, sat at a table with our students, and facilitated a full Change Lab session on the Give to Gain theme. He brought the perspective of someone who helped build the educational framework our Foundation delivers — and then watched young people use the skills that framework is designed to develop.

That's what a real partnership looks like. Not just shared branding. Shared belief.

When your changemaker works across TalkSport and Chelsea TV, the students know they're in the room with someone who lives and breathes football media.

Leonie Carpenter joined us at Stamford Bridge last Thursday for our IWD 2026 event. As a Change Lab facilitator, she guided her table of students through a challenge rooted in this year's Give to Gain theme — helping them shape and pitch a practical idea to the room.

Leonie's presence was a powerful reminder that women in sport and media are not just covering the story. They're shaping it.
