Yesterday I celebrated 7 years of Strength of a Woman 🤍

Seven years of holding space and listening to stories that deserved to be heard. Seven years of walking alongside survivors as they rebuild and reclaim their lives from domestic abuse.

Strength of a Woman is a community rooted in courage, truth, and collective healing. It has also been a safe space for me whilst I continue to heal.

A place that has held me in the same way I have held others, with care, honesty, love, and grace. It has given me purpose, and the permission to grow, and to keep becoming.

This community means everything to me. It is resilience in its purest form and a reminder that even after the darkest chapters, women rise not alone, but together. The trust, vulnerability, and power within this space continues to inspire me.

Our Community Poem: The Armour They Never Saw 🤍

One of our goals for Art Against VAWG was to create a community poem that captures the shared experiences and voices around Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).

Our incredible facilitator .ab led a poetry workshop where participants worked in small groups, guided by prompts to inspire reflection and creativity.

From the discussions and written notes gathered in these groups, Kaia created our deeply moving community poem 🤍🤍

Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is more topical than ever before. With the election of Trump, Gisèle Pelicot’s seeking justice and the crisis in Sudan & Congo, it is paramount we equip our generation, and generations to talk about VAWG effectively, confidently and navigate through discomfort.

In collaboration between Strength of a Woman (SOAW) and Seduced by Art (SBA) , we present to you “Art Against VAWG”. Our mission is to engage with diverse communities and cultures, to foster dialogue and collaboration, and to promote social change through art.

Join us on December 6th to learn new information around prevention, intervention, and support for individuals who have experienced or witnessed VAWG, misogyny, and unhealthy relationships using art and creativity. Expect an art exhibition with exciting vibrant artwork, a panel discussion plus a creative workshop — and so much more!

Inspired by so much this evening… the creativity, the talent, the discussions, the young people & the room full of people who are all passionate & proactive about raising awareness, supporting the community & standing in solidarity to create change, to end Violence Against Women & Girls 🧡👊🏽 So grateful for being able to attend & share with our young leaders 🤍🤍
