National Virtual Junior Summer Camp 2026 - Juniors/26/1204153
Open for booking NOW!

Running: Monday 20 July to Friday 28 Aug 2026

What is it?
The Junior Summer Camp Virtual Opportunity is open to all Junior Sea Cadets who wish to take part in a range of online modules available Monday to Friday over a six-week period during July and August. 1 module will be released each day.

Flexible Participation
Juniors can choose which days they would like to participate in. There is no requirement to open every session, so they can join as many or as few days as they wish.

Recording Their Participation
Juniors are encouraged to record their learning and experiences from the modules they complete in a scrapbook or by using the logbook templates, or both combined.

Template pages will be provided as attachments for draw down from the enrolment course, much the same as you see this Parent/carers information page. You can print them as you need them.

Alternatively, juniors can create their own scrapbook from scratch to document their journey through the modules they choose to take part in.

Cost
There is no cost to participate, as all activities are accessed virtually.

Parents/carers MUST consent through the Sea Cadets Portal prior to the link being sent out. No consent, no link.

Module submission:
At the end of summer juniors take their log pages or scrapbook and request that their junior instructor record the activities in their Junior Sea Cadet Experience record. If the activity shows sufficient evidence of participation and understanding (this is determined by your unit Junior Instructor) the activities will be counted towards your coloured badges and STEM badge.

Thank you to Volunteer Centre Greenwich and the Mayor of Royal Borough of Greenwich for recognising the contribution made by our hard working volunteers and presenting them with awards for having completed over 250hrs of service to Greenwich Sea Cadets.

We’re so very proud of them and the positive impact they both make to the lives of young people in Greenwich.

The opportunities and possibilities for young people in Sea and Royal Marines cadets, or in the wider cadet forces family, are enormous.

But they’re also there for the adults who volunteer and make those opportunities possible for the cadets. Full training is given and flexible volunteering is encouraged around a core commitment. But you don’t have to be an excellent sailor, marksman, musician or a mountain leader if those aren’t your things. Most of all we need people who care about making a positive impact on the lives of young people and if that’s doing some admin, painting a wall, sorting some stores or running a tuckshop, these are equally important at providing an excellent cadet experience. Why not arrange a visit to see what volunteering could look like for you.

London Southern District is made up of a tremendous group of volunteers from across the individual units who regularly work together to deliver cadet experiences beyond the unit. The sum is greater than the parts. Can you spot the uniformed volunteers from GDR?

This Volunteer Week, we proudly celebrate and thank all the incredible volunteers across the London Southern District.

Your time, compassion, energy, and commitment make a lasting difference in the lives of so many people every single day. Whether supporting events, caring for communities, offering guidance, or simply being there when needed most for your cadets, your dedication does not go unnoticed.

Thank you for your selfless service, your kindness, your hours given up for free and the positive impact you continue to make throughout our district. We are truly grateful for each and every one of you.

2, 6 HEAVE!

Our Junior Sea Cadets, senior cadet helper and volunteer staff had a brilliant time on the sail training vessel Pioneer over half term. The weather was glorious and we learnt so much. Everyone helped with the day to day running of the vessel including hoisting sails, cooking meals, scrubbing decks, steering, acting as look outs and looking after the kit. The cadets (and staff!) are pleased to have been awarded the RYA Start Yachting qualification. A couple more voyages are planned for this year.

We are grateful to the Lenox Project for making this training possible and to the staff of Pioneer Sailing Trust for providing such an amazing experience.

With thanks to Andy Lawrence for his drone pictures shared with the Pioneer Sailing Trust of us.

It’s National Volunteers’ Week and we want to say thank you to every single one of our unit volunteers (in uniform and not) who make TS Dreadnought the success it is.

It’s been a magnificent year of volunteering for us and we’re looking forward to another great year.

If you would like to join our award winning team, do get in contact. No experience is necessary and full training is offered. We offer many flexible opportunities around an individually agreed core commitment and we have a lot of fun doing it.

Maybe you’re happy manning the tuck shop; or sailing; or hill walking; or encouraging the band; or doing cultural visits; or doing admin; or driving the minibus; or photographing events; or doing drill; or shooting; or camping; or kayaking; or sewing; cheffing at events; or teaching navigation;… there really is a role for everyone. Why not email to arrange a visit and see where Sea Cadets could take you.

The Sea Cadets National Awards were announced today.

We are unbelievably thrilled to have been named the Best Sea Cadet Unit in the UK, receiving the Canada Trophy; and also named as the unit most worthy of recognition, receiving the McBeath trophy.

Thank you to all of our wonderful cadets, their families, and our tireless team of volunteers (uniformed and not) who have made this possible.

Thank you also to all of our friends & supporters and the District & Area teams who’ve been alongside us on this journey. We look forward to continuing delivering the best Sea Cadets experience possible in our community and beyond.

Congratulations to all of the other nominees and winners of other awards.
