Faggamuffin Bloc Party Faggamuffin Bloc Party celebrates LGBTQ+ people from African and Caribbean Heritage in Carnival.

Faggamuffin Bloc Party celebrates Black Pride and the lives of LGBTQ+ people from African and Caribbean heritage in Carnival contexts. We do so by creating in-person events for our community to come together and celebrate ourselves through music and dance. Since 2018 has turned to reach nearly thousands of people at our main events. We’re excited to continue to do the work that we’re doing and seek to continue to grow and represent our communities in the context of Carnival.

About Our Group

This group was created to represent Hackney’s QTIPOC community. It is open to any q***r person of colour that lives, works or studies in Hackney to collaborate on campaigns, projects and events.

The group’s founders first came together in March 2018, after being invited by Hackney Pride 365 to think about how diversity and inclusivity within the q***r, and wider Hackney community, could be better supported and promoted.

The first event to be devised and delivered by the group is the ground-breaking Faggamuffin Bloc Party sound system - as part of Hackney Carnival - on 9 September, 2018.

Faggamuffin Bloc Party’s mission is to increase the visibility of QTIPOC Pride at carnival. This space is about staking our claim to carnival, affirming our identities and showing pride in our visibility as Q***r People of Colour in Hackney.
