💛 We need community, togetherness, solidarity and hope now, more than ever.

💡We have spent two amazing years learning how to build connections within and between communities; through Steps To Togetherness and in that time it has turned from a programme into a movement. We are now ready to scale it and hoping we’ll have the opportunity to do so.

🎉 Interested? Join us for an online celebration on 18 February to hear about the joys that have lifted us, the struggles that tested us and the surprises that shaped the movement. And most importantly, be part of our plans for the future!

📣 Calling all community groups and grassroots organisations in Barking or Dagenham 📣

We all see the growing power of film and social media in shaping attitudes and influencing daily life.

Many in our sector are working tirelessly to promote tolerance, solidarity, and peace. Sadly, many of these positive stories do not reach the eyes and ears of the general public – contributing to a general feeling of hopelessness in the future.

Let’s work together to change the narrative! 😊

Help us flood the socials with positive stories and learn valuable filmmaking skills in the process.

We are offering you a place on a free filmmaking workshop, as well as follow-up support to create a film, and the opportunity to be part of a national social media campaign.

We would particularly love to welcome those who volunteer in their local communities to join us and share their positive stories of volunteering.

❤️ In the run-up to Valentine’s Day this year, let’s share the love in barking in Dagenham! ❤️

Absolutely loved delivering this workshop in Burnley and Rochdale this week. So much enthusiasm and energy and some great stories of community togetherness that we can create films about.

Bring on next week when we are doing it all again in Middlesbrough and Birkenhead. Middlesbrough is sold out but we still have spaces on our Birkenhead session

Wirral CVS Wirral Council, please share!

“If you want to change the world, you have to change the story” ✊✊

As far right extremism becomes mainstream, hopelessness and despair are becoming widespread. These feelings immobilise us.

Let’s work together to change the tide, by making and sharing a flurry of positive stories that guide us and bring us hope.

🎥 Join us in December for one of our film-making workshops to learn how to tell your stories of hope and solidarity and then share them as part of a national social media campaign.

Who is most at risk of loneliness?

Feelings of isolation and loneliness can affect any of us at any age and any life stage. But there are groups witrhin our society who are more at risk. Minority groups such as LGBTQ+ people can experience stigma and discrimination and find it difficult to meet and build relationships with people, especially with those who have similar experiences.

In recognition of and , here’s Nuala with her thoughts on the Transgender community and what we can be doing to support them. 🏳️‍🌈

✨ Longnor Open shows how creativity can bring a whole village together.
Through art, shared experiences and community spirit, the project tackled rural isolation, built new connections and gave residents pride in their place. 💛

How can we foster connection and community in this economic system?

Our hyper capitalist society isn’t working. It encourages competitive individualism, which makes us sick and divided. Being divided allows inequality to widen and deepen: the rich are getting richer and everybody else is getting poorer.

The system is at odds with togetherness! But without togetherness, we can’t change the system.

Last year we brought together thinkers in the world of progressive economics to explore how we can stealthily work WITH the system to foster togetherness. In particular, we see the workplace as an opportunity for fostering connection within and between communities.

Spoiler: we also need more co-operatives, unions and grassroots activism to connect us and build fairer futures.

Working alone can take a quiet toll — leaving many people feeling isolated, disconnected, and unseen.

Alf’s story is so moving and we are so grateful to him for sharing it. Thankfully Alf reached out and found his community - so the story has a happy ending.

If you’d like to help us continue our Steps to Togetherness work bringing people and communities together, there’s a link in our bio to donate.
