SATURDAY CLUB LINK UP....
Ben from Doorstep Library will be at the early Saturday Club session this week to hand out fliers and talk to parents.

Doorstep Library offer free in-person and online reading sessions for children aged 0-11, with a focus on promoting reading for pleasure. From our base at Jubilee Hall a pair of volunteers visit families with a bag full of books tailored to their interested, and some stalls, to sit on their doorstep or in their homes to share the magic of stories and joy of reading together. Children can select books to borrow each week, while children who read with us online are sent two free books per term to keep. Sessions are weekly 4.30-6.30pm during term-time and last around 20 minutes.

A lovely day in Brockwell Park yesterday as we held our annual ‘John O. Day’ celebration at our Saturday Club. At the request of John’s mum the event has become a regular fixture on the SMP calendar. Always nice to catch up with John’s mum and sisters, too, and to have them hand out Star Player awards! John, who would have celebrated his 24th birthday yesterday, tragically lost his life to knife crime aged just 16.

Lovely to have 3 of our former SMFC players, 2 of them currently SMP coaches, getting to see their beloved Chelsea play in an FA Cup final. Shame about the result! Thanks to the London FA for offering us the chance of some tickets.

Congratulations to SMP Project Coordinator, Dwight and SMFC U11s manager, Alimamy, who, in their other roles as Tooting Bec FC Assistant Head Coach and right back, won the Southeast Counties East Cup against Lordswood in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw at Cray Wanderers FC’s ground. Alimamy scored the opening goal and a penalty in the shootout. All at SMP are extremely proud of their progression since their SMFC playing days. 💙🖤
