Ella Roberta Family Foundation

Ella Roberta Family Foundation REGISTERED CHARITY NUMBER : 1158212

Ella Roberta Adoo Kissi Debrah was born happy and healthy. By the age of seven she had been diagnosed with asthma. At the age of nine she had suffered a fatal asthma attack. It took her mother years of campaigning for the role of air pollution to be recognised: Ella is the first person in the world to have air pollution listed as a cause of death on her death certificate.

OUR VISION:
At the Ella Roberta Foundation we believe in a world where clean air is a human right. We think everyone should be able to breathe air that is free from toxic pollution, regardless of where they live, their economic status or their ethnic background.

OUR MISSION
We believe the Coroner’s recommendations issued after the landmark inquest into Ella’s death have the power to improve air quality for everyone, everywhere. Our work is to campaign for these guidelines to be followed by governments, councils, medical professionals and the general public, all over the world.

FUNDRAISING FOR ELLA
Help the Foundation raise money so that it can continue its work raising awareness of the health impact of air pollution in children. Your money ensures we can continue telling Ella’s story and try to reduce the risk of air pollution for other children.

moment and my children were there to celebrate with me. I had been to ceremonies before as an undergraduate and postgraduate but this was incredibly special. My hope going forward is to promote Performing Arts especially to children and young people who wouldn’t normally have access. My three children who have all been gifted and talented in the Arts and continue to perform to today. Ella at 9 was a multi instrumentalist and played a dozen instruments at her tender age. I hope to use my experience to open doors for other families in a similar situation to our family. I will keep you all updated.

Happy 2026 to all our committed supporters. We wish you health and happiness throughout the year. Our hope is at the end of the year we will all be breathing cleaner air to improve the population’s health. The duo yesterday at the launch of my first exhibition “Air That I Breathe” featuring Art work that I have collaborated on with Artists in different mediums over the past 10 years featuring Ella Roberta. An incredibly emotional night as it is 3 weeks away from what would have been Ella’s 22nd birthday. The exhibition is onto at least the 31st January and fingers but not definite it may extend to the anniversary of her passing on February 15. Do come and support it at Canvas & Cream : 18 London Road, Forest Hill, London SE23 3HF, in South East London.

54 Children and Young People have died from asthma & anaphylaxis (2020-2024) linked to Air Pollution! From today until 31 Dec 2025, TWO more Children and Young People are predicted to die. I am urging the public & ALL MPs, to please write to to give more time in Parliament next Friday November 21 where it is due to have its Second Reading. Without substantive pressure it will be kicked into the long grass again as it was in 2023 when Caroline Lucas brought it to Parliament. Why is it so urgent? On Clean Air Day on June 19 2025 in a new report by they concluded that every week 500 people die prematurely in the UK due to Air Pollution. Air Pollution are all scientists now know is linked to all non communicable diseases. Only the Prime Minister has power to give the bill more time in Parliament. We only have just a week to persuade the most powerful man in the country to make happen; over to you.

I attended the annual Black History Month celebration at City Hall which was an absolute pleasure as always. This year's slogan "Standing Firm in Power and Pride" is extremely important in today's political climate and 'pays tribute to the unwavering commitment to progress that defines the black community globally'.

Day one at the royal court of justice: after more than 10 years, diesel gate has finally made it to court. All the claimants deserve an apology and justice for being “deceived” as they believed their vehicles on purchase were clean. In America and Germany this has already happened. We ask the UK government to commit to a public awareness campaign on air pollution as the coroner recommend at Ella’s inquest. Every week 500 people die prematurely due to air pollution - ‘Royal College of Physicians’. It is high time the public learnt about the detrimental impacts of dirty air.

I am beginning to look back over what has been another momentous year for Ella’s Foundation and there are really some stand out moments indeed. As you know if you have been following for awhile I have the most patient children in the world and I am grateful they continue to support me in all that I do. The duo as they are nicknamed share in all my ups and downs and have worked hard in promoting their sister’s charity. To all their teachers on here, they are now at University reading music and musical theatre. I am beyond proud and my sadness that Ella isn’t here to cheer them on. I would like to utter my absolute thanks to all their teachers and significant others who have had a hand in shaping them. From Mrs John and her team at LOPs, to Coleen, Tom and all the staff at Holbeach and I have to give a special thanks to Mrs Jackson and Miss Middleton. To Mr Ronan and his team at Bonus Pastor again a special mention to Miss Bea and Mr Coke. Finally to Pendergast Hillyfields especially their Head of Year that I better not name and their Head of Music. I know all their Godparents are equally proud and I must mention Jigsaw Performing Art and their swimming teach Jo who was a major influence. I wish them love as always and luck on the next stage of their journey. Their medical team are delighted with their progress and I know they are going to love University.
