Ella Roberta Adoo Kissi Debrah was born happy and healthy. By the age of seven she had been diagnosed with asthma. At the age of nine she had suffered a fatal asthma attack. It took her mother years of campaigning for the role of air pollution to be recognised: Ella is the first person in the world to have air pollution listed as a cause of death on her death certificate.

OUR VISION:
At the Ella Roberta Foundation we believe in a world where clean air is a human right. We think everyone should be able to breathe air that is free from toxic pollution, regardless of where they live, their economic status or their ethnic background.

OUR MISSION
We believe the Coroner’s recommendations issued after the landmark inquest into Ella’s death have the power to improve air quality for everyone, everywhere. Our work is to campaign for these guidelines to be followed by governments, councils, medical professionals and the general public, all over the world.

Last week, I had the privilege of lecturing for my 5th year at the London School of Economics to city leaders from all over the world such as: Australia, Brazil, Zambia and more. The group have come to study at LSE for the Urban95 residence week. “Urban95 is a fully-funded executive education programme for municipal leaders worldwide to learn and develop strategies to make cities better for babies, toddlers and their caregivers.”
I really enjoyed this talk and had some fantastic questions at the end from the audience; allowing me to learn about their countries issues with pollution, and their communities reaction to it, in comparison to London. Thank you LSE again for having me.

Last week I attended a reception at St. Jame’s Palace during Climate Week that highlighted solutions for the rapid reduction of methane and non-CO2 pollutants. I was able to speak to the King about my campaigning and he continues his support.

Today, doctors, charities and medical bodies as part of the Healthy Air Coalition gather in Parliament Square to hand-deliver a giant prescription demanding one treatment, a new Clean Air Act as, 500 people per week are dying prematurely from air pollution in the U.K. New Defra data shows PM2.5 rose 12% in 2025. The UK's legal limit sits at four time the WHO's recommend 5μ g/m³, and even the government's 2040 target only halves that gap, still leaving it double the WHO guideline. 500 people per week are dying prematurely from air pollution in the U.K.

A second heatwave lands next week, and heat doesn't just raise temperatures, it reacts with existing pollution to form "super pollutants", ground-level ozone and smog.

moment and my children were there to celebrate with me. I had been to ceremonies before as an undergraduate and postgraduate but this was incredibly special. My hope going forward is to promote Performing Arts especially to children and young people who wouldn’t normally have access. My three children who have all been gifted and talented in the Arts and continue to perform to today. Ella at 9 was a multi instrumentalist and played a dozen instruments at her tender age. I hope to use my experience to open doors for other families in a similar situation to our family. I will keep you all updated.

Happy 2026 to all our committed supporters. We wish you health and happiness throughout the year. Our hope is at the end of the year we will all be breathing cleaner air to improve the population’s health. The duo yesterday at the launch of my first exhibition “Air That I Breathe” featuring Art work that I have collaborated on with Artists in different mediums over the past 10 years featuring Ella Roberta. An incredibly emotional night as it is 3 weeks away from what would have been Ella’s 22nd birthday. The exhibition is onto at least the 31st January and fingers but not definite it may extend to the anniversary of her passing on February 15.
