Thank you to Lord Michael Cashman for calling for action in the UK House of Lords this week following the escalating crackdown on LGBTI+ civil society and human rights defenders in Türkiye.

We stand in solidarity with LGBTI+ people, activists and organisations in Türkiye, and thank those using their platforms to demand action and accountability.

The international community must not look away.

Kaleidoscope Trust is deeply concerned by the escalating crackdown on LGBTI+ civil society and human rights defenders in Türkiye.

As of late 15 September, at least 112 people have reportedly been detained in connection with recent operations, including 43 LGBTI+ rights defenders. At least 62 people have been arrested, including 16 LGBTI+ activists or people connected to LGBTI+ organisations, while judicial proceedings continue in Istanbul.
