New Addington Carnival has been a staple of the area since the 1950's. In 2006 it had to stop for various reasons, but in 2011 a small group of residents wanted to try and bring it back. Through many phone calls & letters, we managed to do this, but the money to put on the event goes up year on year. We have previously been lucky to get funding through various fundraising events, and grants, but y
ear on year the availability of grants are diminishing. All money raised will help to put on future events. The average cost of the carnival is in excess of £10.000
This includes Insurance, hire of the field, road closures, security, toilets, fencing of approx £3-4000 before we can think about booking any act's etc. Since the Carnival was relaunched, in the first year we made a massive loss, in the previous years we have still made a loss, but the amount is getting smaller each year, as the event is getting bigger, and drawing in more people. All our accounts are available to anyone to view to see where the money is being spent, and this is audited each year, as the committee has set the Carnival up as a Company Limited by Guarantee. All money raised/donated etc is purely for the Carnival fund, the organisers do not take out any form of payment. Our aim is to not only make the event bigger and better as the years go on, but to eventually make enough money on the weekend to be able to donate to a chosen charity. Any donation is welcome, no matter how big or small, and all donations go through the Carnivals registered bank account. Thank you.
