Young female professionals often face significant challenges when starting their careers, especially as Al continues to reduce many traditional entry-level opportunities.

Despite these obstacles, women are resilient, resourceful, and determined, consistently finding ways to adapt, succeed, and get the job done.

Louisa Mitchell MBE was recognised with the Woman in
Education Award in 2025

As CEO of , Louisa leads vital work to tackle inequality and support children and young people in underserved communities to thrive.

Drawing on a career across finance, environmental work, journalism and policy, she has helped shape an innovative, community-led approach to improving life chances in West London and beyond.

This recognition reflected not only Louise’s leadership, but the collective effort of her team, partners, and the young people and families at the heart of the work.

We’re so excited to celebrate this year’s winners.

As we continue preparations for this year’s Women of the Year Lunch and Awards, we asked our Chair, Diane Kenwood (), to share her greatest hopes for the generations of incredible women to come.

She said: “My greatest hope for the next generation of women is that they believe that nothing is impossible.

“At Women of the Year, we have celebrated everyone from female astronauts to women running domestic abuse refuges. We’ve had robotic engineers and female fishermen, and even women making rubbish into bricks to build houses with – and women who have turned terrible loss into lifesaving laws.

“Every year, I leave the lunch absolutely believing that women not only have the power to change the world, but they’re actually doing it.”

We’re proud to announce that nominations for the Lorraine Women of the Year Trailblazer Award, 2026 are now officially open.

The award celebrates extraordinary women who are driving change, championing important causes, and making a lasting impact in their communities.

Last year’s winner, Sarah Harrison, was recognised for her incredible work supporting people and families affected by incurable and life-limiting illnesses through her charity, 🌟 Supporting People with Incurable Illness & Loss

Following her diagnosis of secondary breast cancer, Sarah dedicated herself to helping others and touched countless lives through her compassion, strength, and determination.

Sadly, Sarah passed away last year, but her legacy continues through the lives she changed and the vital work she inspired.

We asked our Chair, Diane Kenwood what makes her most proud to be involved with Women of the Year, and this is what she said to say...
“I’m most proud to be involved with Women of the Year because it gives me the opportunity to continue the legacy of the Founder, Tony Lothian, and my own mother, who was one of the Founding Vice Presidents of the organisation, in championing, celebrating and connecting women.
“Women today face so many challenges, and it can feel disheartening that we’re not making the progress we might want, so shining a spotlight on the work being done that addresses those challenges, and the incredible women doing that work, is what Women of the Year needs to do, and does with real pride.”

Through her work in sexual health and HIV medicine, Dr Dhairyawan Dr Rageshri Dhairyawan FRCP MBBS MSc DipHIV DipGUM DFSRH is helping to challenge stigma, amplify underrepresented voices, and drive meaningful change for marginalised communities.

From influencing policy to championing patient voices, her work is a powerful reminder of the impact that advocacy and compassion can have, both within healthcare and beyond.

A truly inspiring leader whose work continues to push for a more equitable future.

We can’t wait to see which women take the stage to receive awards at this year’s event.

“I started my career in engineering and energy and, for much of it, I found myself as the only woman in the room,” says Jaz Rabadia MBE (), former award recipient and current Women of the Year committee member. 

“To be surrounded by so many extraordinary women, and to be recognised amongst them, was truly special. Women of the Year has reminded me just how powerful it feels to not be the only woman in the room.”

As we begin the countdown to this year’s lunch and awards, Jaz’s story of female empowerment within a traditionally male-dominated industry serves as a brilliant reminder of the importance of what we do here at Women of the Year💙
