Members of UKHA Manchester & NW met on Friday 25th September at The Treehouse in Manchester, a unique and magical venue with fantastic views of the city. UKHA members and guests enjoyed a fabulous meeting with show rounds, speakers and refreshments. It was lovely to see new faces, who we hope to welcome back soon, as well as familiar faces returning too.

UKHA Yorkshire & NE committee welcomes Jakub Joubert.

Earlier this month Janet Thompson and the Yorkshire & NE committee welcomed the Director of Housekeeping at Grantley Hall Jakub Joubert to the committee. Jakub has already been supporting the region with events and is looking forward to becoming more involved.

Jakub has over 20 years of experience in hotel housekeeping, beginning his career as a Linen Porter and progressing through a wide range of operational and leadership roles in London, as well across the UK.

Today, he serves as the Director of Housekeeping at Grantley Hall in Ripon North Yorkshire, where he leads one of the region’s most complex luxury housekeeping operations.

This year's Triple H Awards took place at the Crowne Plaza, Stratford-upon-Avon on the 10th October 2026. Several of our associate members sponsored categories and many UKHA members scooped awards.

The evening was a real gala event with Peter Hancock hosting the event and entertaining the audience with some anecdotes from his past. MEG Events, organisers of the awards with the backing of Housekeeping Today, said: “All the finalists are winners in our eyes they do a superb job keeping the hotels and care homes running efficiently and ensuring guests receive the welcoming environment they expect. Well done to everyone!"

International Housekeeping Appreciation Week 2026. Hotels across the UK celebrated the magnificent work of their housekeeping teams, with initiatives, activities, treats and gifts.

Housekeeping Week is something we look forward to every year. It’s a chance to show our housekeeping teams just how much they are appreciated and to shine a light on the vital work they do behind the scenes, every single day.

This year, hotels found their own unique ways to celebrate - from raffles and prizes to tasting food from around the world, special breakfasts and lunches, team outings and fun competitions. Whatever the activity, the message was the same: thank you.

Recognition from the top really matters. When senior leaders get involved, take the time to say thank you and recognise the hard work of their teams, it sends a powerful message. Housekeeping isn’t simply another department, it is a vital part of the success and reputation of every hotel.

And of course, recognition shouldn’t be limited to just one week of the year. A simple thank you, a smile, a little kindness or simply taking the time to notice someone’s effort can mean so much.

Here’s to continuing to celebrate and recognise our amazing housekeeping teams – not just during Housekeeping Week, but every day.

UKHA London & SE September Meeting Review: Well over 60 London & SE members met on 7th September for the early autumn meeting at the prestigious In & Out Club in St. James.

As a venue for a meeting, the reception room was very grand, with high ceilings, historical portraits and an impressive amount of gilt and glitter. We all felt rather important!
