The Paediatric Anaesthetists in Training Research Network (PATRN) is recruiting for two committee roles:
🔹 IT & Communications Lead 🔹 PATRN Committee Member
We’re looking for enthusiastic non-consultant anaesthetists working in the UK or Ireland with an interest in paediatric anaesthesia and research.
Joining the committee is a great opportunity to contribute to national projects, develop leadership and management experience, and build your skills in audit, quality improvement and research.
For the IT & Communications Lead role, we’re particularly keen to hear from applicants with experience or an interest in website development and management.

Our Council members have been hard at work showcasing the APAGBI at the ESPA Conference in Madrid 🇪🇸
Dr Sumit Das and Dr Karen Bartholomew were flying the flag for APAGBI on Day 1, with Dr Das chairing the opening session on Paediatric Organ Donation.
Dr Catalina Stendall has also been running workshops alongside the co-creators of the In Plane App, Dr Annabel Pearson and Dr Babette Clink.
Dr Lauren Brown represented us with poster presentation of the results of our Sip Til Send Survey. A huge thank you to all our members who took the time to respond and made this work possible.
It has been fantastic to see the APAGBI contribution across such a broad range of sessions, workshops and research at this year’s ESPA meeting.

📢 New Joint Consensus Statement

Peri-operative management of patients having day surgery 🏥

The Association of Anaesthetists, British Association for Day Surgery and Association of Paediatric Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland have published a new consensus statement on optimising the delivery of day surgery.
The statement provides 12 recommendations to support safe, effective and patient-centred day surgery, including patient optimisation, criteria-led discharge, sip ’til send, dedicated pathways for children, multidisciplinary training and quality improvement.

✨ Last week we came together in Plymouth for our Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM), celebrating the incredible work being undertaken across paediatric anaesthesia services.
A huge congratulations to all of our prize winners and presenters. The quality of submissions this year was outstanding, showcasing innovation, quality improvement, patient safety and research from centres across the UK and Ireland.
