Last week, Cleveland Clinic London came together for a Professional Development Day, centred around this yearā€™s theme: Grow Your Way.

It was a day of learning, connection and inspiration, giving caregivers the opportunity to explore new development opportunities, build skills and discover ways to shape their careers.

The day began with our Development Marketplace, where caregivers connected with teams across Talent Development, Nursing Education, Clinical Education, Apprenticeships and Allied Health Professions to explore the support available for their development.

The day also featured sessions on internal learning opportunities, AI in healthcare, and an inspiring Lunch and Learn with Angela Rossi, Chief Human Resources Officer, Abi Stapleton, Chief Commercial Officer, and Mike Herb, Chief Financial Officer, who shared their career journeys and the experiences.

Join us on Thursday 12 November for Cleveland Clinic Connects: Innovations and Interface with Primary Care.

The programme will explore the latest advances in healthcare and how closer collaboration between specialist and primary care teams can help improve patient outcomes, with a range of clinical topics and areas of focus.

As November marks Menā€™s Health Awareness Month, the programme will include sessions on menā€™s and prostate health, covering prostate cancer screening and PSA interpretation, as well as innovations in prostate cancer surgery and treatment. Other sessions will focus on multiple sclerosis, IBD, rheumatological conditions, thyroid disorders and Bellā€™s Palsy.

In 2022, then NFL player Lewis Cine suffered a serious leg injury during a game between the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

From his seat above the field, Mr Vasireddy, lead trauma and orthopaedic surgeon watched as one of his colleagues on the sideline phoned him.

ā€œHe told me the player had an open, segmental fracture of the lower leg and a large laceration.ā€ An X-ray confirmed the injury, and Lewis was transported by ambulance to Cleveland Clinic London.

Lewis knew that something was wrong. ā€œAs I was falling down, I saw my leg was twisted at a 90% angle,ā€ Lewis recalls.

Working with plastic surgeon Mr Edmund Fitzgerald Oā€™Connor, the team cleaned and stabilised the injury, removing damaged tissue and placing a temporary external fixator. Two days later, they performed the major surgery.

Five days after surgery, accompanied by his father and a Vikingsā€™ medical staffer, he flew by air ambulance back to Minnesota to begin rehabilitation. Shortly after, Lewis surprised teammates and coaches by walking into the teamā€™s practice facility unaided and barely limping. Shortly after, months of intense rehab began.

ā€œI give so much credit to the surgeons and everyone who cared for me. They helped me regain not only my strength but also my confidence,ā€ Lewis says.

As the NFL returns to London this weekend, weā€™re proud to support as an Official Supplier, delivering expert pitch-side medical care when itā€™s needed.

Today marks World Heart Day, an opportunity to raise awareness of cardiovascular health and the importance of taking proactive steps to protect heart health.

Throughout September, free heart health screenings were offered at 20 Fenchurch Street and 122 Leadenhall Street, providing an opportunity for individuals to learn more about their cardiovascular health.

Across both screening days, 115 individuals were screened, highlighting the value of preventative health checks and greater awareness of individual cardiovascular risk.

Heart conditions can sometimes develop without obvious symptoms. Understanding personal risk factors and seeking appropriate checks can therefore play an important role in identifying potential concerns early and supporting long-term heart health.

At Cleveland Clinic London, private outpatient cardiology diagnostic packages are available, tailored to individual risks and symptoms, including cardiac risk assessment, breathlessness and palpitations.
