🎓 Celebrating the next generation of healthcare leaders

On Wednesday, we were delighted to celebrate the graduation of our 2025-26 Clinical Fellows cohort at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Over the past year, these fellows have developed their leadership capabilities, built valuable professional networks and contributed to meaningful change across the healthcare system.

The event also featured an inspiring keynote address from Professor Frankie Swords, National Medical Director at NHS England, who shared reflections on leadership and the road ahead, encouraging fellows to continue leading with purpose and impact. Alongside reflections from fellows and scheme sponsors across the National Medical Director’s, Chief Sustainability Officer’s, Chief Pharmaceutical Officer’s and Chief Dental Officer’s schemes, the day showcased the breadth of leadership talent being developed across the healthcare system.

Congratulations to all of our graduates on this significant achievement. We look forward to following your continued leadership journeys and seeing the impact you make in the years ahead.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Professor Frankie Swords, Chris Gormley, Richard Cattell and Jason Wong for their contributions to the day, for sharing their valuable insights and supporting our fellows throughout the programme and graduation event. We would also like to thank Natasha Esdale for her exceptional work in planning and delivering such a successful celebration.

📊 The GMC's 2026 National Training Survey results have now been published, providing valuable insights into the experiences of doctors in training and their trainers across the UK.

The survey is a vital tool for understanding where training environments are working well, where challenges remain, and how improvements can be made to support high-quality training and safe patient care.

This year, the GMC has introduced a refreshed reporting approach, with concise briefing notes highlighting key findings and trends at both UK-wide and national levels. These insights can help healthcare leaders, employers, educators and training organisations drive meaningful improvements and support the future healthcare workforce.

At FMLM, we recognise the importance of listening to the experiences of those delivering and receiving training. Evidence drawn from surveys such as this helps inform leadership decisions, strengthen training environments, and contribute to positive change across the healthcare system.
