Join OrganicLea's Summer Solstice Celebration: Plants and People in Unity.

As part of Refugee Week and celebrating their traditional Hawkwood summer solstice event, expect an uplifting evening featuring local musicians, specially curated tours, food and speeches. Taking place Friday 19 June, 4pm to 10 at Hawkwoood Plant Nursery, E4 7UH. The event is free to attend but donations are encouraged towards food and basic running costs.

The meal will be a tasty global fusion plate (plant-based) curated by young adults that have been attending OrganicLea's programmes over the past year in partnership with Waltham Forest College's ESOL department. They will be preparing Sudanese Ta'mia (closely related to falafel), alongside rice dishes, locally sourced bread, vegetables and OrganicLea's signature salad; alongside fresh summer pickles. Refugee Week is the world's largest arts and culture festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary.

🪘 Celebrating Connection, Culture & Community at the Haringey Early Years Conference 🪘

Mbilla Arts had the privilege of delivering an inspiring African drumming workshop and grand finale at Haringey’s Early Years Conference in May: Boys to Men – Nurturing Growth and Potential in the Early Years.

It was a wonderful opportunity to bring people together through rhythm, participation, and shared cultural experiences, while contributing to a day dedicated to supporting the development and wellbeing of young children.

💬 Feedback from the Haringey Early Years Team:

“We are truly grateful to Mbilla Arts for delivering such a fantastic workshop at our recent conference. Seneke’s expertise and engaging delivery significantly contributed to the event’s success. We greatly appreciate the time and effort taken to share your knowledge and skills with our attendees.

The drumming finale was phenomenal and provided immense value to our participants. Your contribution to the day was invaluable, and we deeply appreciate your support.”

Thank you to everyone who took part.
