FULL TIME SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPIST VACANCY (LONDON)

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our small but dynamic Autism Project team in Central London.

This is a full-time position.
The Autism Project (TAP) is a full-time, employability programme for young people on the autistic spectrum, aged 18-25.

Summary of Post:
• To assess the speech and language therapy needs for all students on The Autism Project.
• To undertake speech and language therapy with individual and small groups of students.
• To provide language and communication training for TAP staff as an integral aspect of the delivery of speech and language therapy

Integrated Treatment Services have a great opportunity for an SaLT to cover for maternity leave from July 2022 and for the new academic year 22/23. It is based in London W10 and is full time.
To start in July 2022 for handover and then covering maternity leave for the academic year of 2022-23.

The caseload includes 11 children with EHCPs attending the resource base (split between an older and younger group in mornings and afternoons). Interventions are a combination of individual / paired therapy sessions each week to work on SaLT targets based on assessments and some direct teaching of Zones of Regulation and aspects of grammar using shape coding in PSHE and Literacy lessons. There are also 5 children in mainstream who have an EHCP. Support will also be given to 20 children with SLCN but no EHCP across the mainstream school, modelling blocks of direct therapy 1:1 or in pairs/small groups and then handing over to trained TAs to continue for a review after another 6 weeks.

There is some admin around annual reviews for the 16 children with EHCPs also support for the resource base lead when consulted with a new pupil for the resource base. The role also involves whole-school training, delivery of parent workshops and onward referral for specialist NHS support where needed (e.g. stammering, CDT assessment).
