MEET SI XIAZI — ARTIST POP-UP + CUSTOMISATION WORKSHOP 🎨

Born in Angola, raised in South Africa and moving to London at 17, Si Xiazi has built a practice shaped by migration, isolation, shared struggle and the quiet ways people communicate without saying anything at all.

His work is instantly recognisable for one deliberate detail: the absence of faces.

Si was never meant to be the face of the work. Instead, the figures are left open so that the person looking at them can place themselves inside the story.

That same thinking runs through everything he creates — turning personal experience into something other people can connect with, while encouraging discipline, focus and clarity of purpose.

For CUSTOM COUTXRE, Si is taking that practice beyond the canvas.

On Sunday 13 September, he’ll be joining us at Signature Brew Haggerston for an artist pop-up, displaying pieces from his practice before leading guests through a hands-on session focused on painting, reworking and transforming garments.

Having previously delivered creative workshop work for HSBC, this isn’t simply about watching an artist create — it’s an opportunity to get involved in the process yourself.

His principle says it best:

“Turn pain into champagne.”

Growth isn’t just awareness.
It’s sacrifice. Discipline. Action.
And making something from what you’ve been given.
