Introducing Sara 💚
We want you to meet the volunteers and staff behind our clubs. The people who show up, week after week, because they believe in our community.
Sara has been volunteering with CASPA for over three years. She came to us after taking early retirement, but as she puts it: "I still felt I needed a purpose and to give back a little to my local community."
With neurodiverse family members, CASPA felt personal. She was clear from the start about where she wanted to be: "I wished to support older members rather than school age children, as I felt my maturity and experience could engage with these members better."
Three years on, she's still here. Just last week, a new member joined a Dungeons & Dragons session for the very first time. They'd been isolated and were looking for friendship. By the end of the evening, they'd made a genuine connection with another member and left happy.
"The growth and confidence I have seen in many members has been truly inspiring. Some members just needed a little more encouragement to find their way in life and to believe in themselves."
If you're thinking about volunteering, Sara's message is simple:
"I have found it incredibly rewarding, seeing members growing in confidence and being happy to be themselves, without any judgement."
CASPA runs clubs for autistic people of all ages, from our Tots sessions right through to Infinity for our older members.
Whatever your background, we would love to hear from you.
