⛳💙 Thank you to the regulars and newbies of our 2026 Golf Day! 💙⛳

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and supported our annual Golf Day at Singing Hills Golf Course.

This special event has now been bringing people together for around 25 years, and we're incredibly grateful for the continued generosity of all who take part...

Thanks to your support, we raised an amazing £3,377 (and 63p) for our Sri Lanka Water Projects!

Your donations will help families in remote communities in Monaragala, Sri Lanka, gain access to clean drinking water through household water filters and newly installed tube wells.

Thank you.

The water projects in Sri Lanka are also helping improve agricultural water systems, supporting farmers to grow crops more reliably during increasingly difficult dry seasons, and empowering women through livelihood training and self-help groups.

For many families, access to safe water means better health, stronger harvests, improved incomes and a brighter future for the next generation 💙💧

Thank you to all our golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters for making this year's event such a success. We couldn't do it without you.

Chandrika and Sunil’s testimonies reflect the ongoing need in villages across the Monaragala District, Sri Lanka 💧🌱

Here are some examples of progress made so far:

2 of 15 selected farmers now have access to newly built agricultural wells, providing dependable irrigation to support farming and household income. The remaining 13 farmers will receive wells later this year.

Alongside improving water access, the project is supporting:

🌾 Increased agricultural productivity and crop diversification
🌽 Improved maize farming and sustainable market linkages
👩‍🌾 Women’s empowerment through self help groups and livelihoods training

So far, 177 women across three villages have joined self help groups, gaining access to economic opportunities, financial independence and stronger community support networks...

But the need is still urgent.

As Chandrika and Sunil share, many families are still waiting for reliable water access and the opportunities it brings.

Your support helps us continue reaching vulnerable communities with safe water, stronger livelihoods and hope for the future.

Life giving water! 💧

Our water projects in Sri Lanka aim to improve the wellbeing of vulnerable households across three villages: Kadurugodagama, Fifth Mile Post and Mayuragama – all of which are in the Monaragala District.

This project will not only focus on improving access to safe drinking water, but through improving water access will benefit agriculture and livelihoods in villages, and also empowering women through economic participation.

💙 Here are a few examples of the work that has already been underway:
- Safe drinking water sources delivered to households in Mayuragama and Fifth Mile Post
- Mayuragama now has 75 households with access to safe drinking water the rehabilitation of 1 tube well and construction of 2 new hand pump tube wells
- In Fifth Mile Post: 49 households received clay pot water filters ensuring water meets safe drinking standards

A lot of volunteering stories begin ordinarily ~

Someone asks a question, speaks to the right person and thinks, maybe I have a skill that could help somehow? 💫

If you’ve ever wondered what volunteering with International Needs could look like, we’d love you to join us online on Thursday 4 June at 7pm!

We’ll hear from Amie Birkett Draper about her experience interning with us, and also from Ali and Grace from the IN UK team.

It’ll be informal, thoughtful and open ❤️

You’re very welcome to come, listen, ask questions, and see what resonates. We promise there won’t be a big sales pitch, so no pressure. Your curiosity is enough!

Sign up via the link below, and we’ll send the meeting details before the event:

Helping families in Sri Lanka access clean water 💧

In remote farming communities in Monaragala, many families still rely on shallow and deteriorating wells for drinking water. During long dry seasons, entire villages face severe water shortages, making daily life increasingly difficult.

Without reliable access to clean water, families are more vulnerable to illness, poor harvests, debt, and poverty...

Chandrika, from Mayuragama, shared:
“The main problem we have in this village is the shortage of water. Because of that we do not have drinking water and water for cultivation.”

Through this project, we are helping communities access safe drinking water, improve agricultural water systems, strengthen farming livelihoods, and support women through self help groups and training 💙

Our little UK team, and now our keen IN supporters too we’re sure, will be cheering Samuel on and praying for his continued success 💙

It’s wonderful to see Samuel’s hard work and dedication leading him to the final term of his Law degree at university.

Through Child Sponsorship, children can access education while families are able to focus their resources on essentials such as food, healthcare, and farming costs, as school fees are then covered.

International Needs Uganda's Sponsorship Coordinator, Ivan, shared:
“Samuel is an exceptionally dedicated and high performing student. He has consistently represented his university in inter university legal competitions, where he has received recognition and awards for his outstanding performance.”

We are proud to celebrate Samuel’s hard work and achievements 🎓💙

Last week, the IN UK team came together for a Team Day filled with reflection, learning, laughter and gratitude ❤️

We:
• Heard a devotion from Father Prem and spent time praying together
• Met Wuraol Melikam, who is currently volunteering with us, and joined her in some brilliant team-building activities
• Listened to our wonderful new joiner, Maika Scales, share project updates to the team
• Were guided through one of Ali Mbugua’s favourite things… spreadsheets 📊

And last, but by no means least, we said farewell to Jane Howard, our trustee for over 20 years.

We give thanks for Jane’s dedicated service to IN, during which she has witnessed and helped oversee so much growth and change.

What an incredible day at the London Marathon! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ We are so grateful for our amazing runners Andrew, Ben, Jonny, Katie, Michael and Rachelle who gave their all in support of our charity.

Each mile carried not just physical effort ~ but real courage, perseverance and faith.

There were challenges along the way.
- Andrew pushed through knee pain after 13 miles
- Ben battled pain from mile 10, after even being told he should not run due to a torn calf muscle, and truly felt carried by prayer
- Rachelle hit the wall early at 3km and was still hobbling after finishing
- One of the team was even unwell at the end.

This is a reminder to our team of just how much they gave out there.

A couple members of our team, Grace and Zoe, were in London to encourage our runners and would like to be part of officially thanking you.

A huge thank you to you all. We are so proud of each one of you and we are so very aware of your dedication 💛

We are also praying now for rest, recovery and healing.

We pray for renewed strength in tired bodies, peace after such a huge effort and a deep sense of encouragement in all that you have achieved.

“Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” (Hebrews 12:1)

You did just that. 🙌
