Remembering Lord Archer
Chain of Hope is deeply saddened by the passing of Lord Jeffrey Archer, our Ambassador, Master Auctioneer and longstanding friend of the charity.
For more than 15 years, Lord Archer gave his time, energy and extraordinary talent to Chain of Hope. His generosity and commitment helped us raise vital funds for children with heart disease around the world, most notably through his much-anticipated role as our Master Auctioneer at the Chain of Hope Gala Ball. His ability to engage an audience, bring people together and inspire generosity was truly exceptional, and his contribution to our work will be remembered with immense gratitude.
Lord Archer was one of the world’s most successful and recognisable authors. His books have sold more than 300 million copies worldwide, reaching readers across more than 100 countries and many languages. His remarkable literary career spanned five decades, with nineteen number-one fiction bestsellers, alongside successes in short stories and non-fiction.
Lord Archer was also a passionate art collector and highly accomplished auctioneer. Over three decades, he conducted around ten charity auctions each year and helped raise more than £51 million for good causes — a remarkable testament to his commitment to philanthropy.
