As we close this final chapter of our story, on our last day as a charity, we’re taking a moment to reflect on more than four decades of extraordinary impact, through these archival images.
From our radical grassroots as the Greenwich Le***an and Gay Centre in 1984 to METRO Charity today, we’ve spent over 42 years standing proudly alongside people navigating life, identity, and wellbeing through our inclusive, life-changing services.
For many, METRO has been a lifeline: a place where someone listens without judgment, where support is both practical and heartfelt, and where difference is celebrated. It has been a space where activists have taken to the streets, where real change has been driven through campaigning and advocacy, and where people have discovered themselves, found community, and built lifelong friendships.
This history and this impact can never be erased.
Finally, thank you for being part of our story. Your unwavering support has enabled us to deliver vital work to those who need it most for over forty years.
Remember: you are not alone, and support is there if you need it. Be bold. Be yourself. Embrace difference.
