It was a soggy one today! Huge congratulations to everyone who made it outside this morning. We had:
🏁148 finishers
🦺19 volunteers
🌏 37 visitors

🚨🚨 LONG POST ALERT🚨🚨
Ever wondered why we're always banging on about wanting more volunteers? It's not (just) that we're needy, it's because we neeeed them for the event to function. Okay fine, we're needy 😁

Some of our volunteer roles are crucial - without them, we can't host PPR:
🎤Run Director
⏱️Timekeeper - preferably 2
🎟️Finish token hander-outer-er
🤳Barcode scanner - with 150-200 finishers we need 3 to stop the queues building
🎉Tailwalker - someone needs to be last!
🦺Marshals - every parkrun has different requirements and we need 2 at Pymmes. Ideally we should have someone at every entrance to the park but that would mean 7 marshals each week!

Volunteer roles that we love to have each week but aren't essential. Feel free to debate this in the comments!
- 🧏🏻‍♀️sign language support for the safety briefing
- ✍🏼a report writer
- 🚶parkwalker(s)
- 🚽a visitor centre marshal (AKA loo-tenant) so that we have toilets before the event.

We also need people to 👷‍♂️set up the course and 📦pack everything away again afterwards but they can be combined with other volunteer roles or your walk/run.

We've even got lots of stuff going on behind the scenes such as Event Director, Comms and social media, and our trusty Volunteer Coordinator (or VolCoor as he prefers to be known).

As it stands, we need 10 different volunteers every single week to put this event on.

We know that your Saturday 5km might be the only time you get to yourself or your only consistent exercise. We get it. There is no obligation to volunteer. Otherwise it wouldn't be called volunteering!But if you have a friend or relative that doesn't fancy the strenuous exercise and wants in on the PPR fun, why not suggest they volunteer with us. Or if you're injured or resting before an event, why not sign up for a job in the hi-viz? It builds skills, looks good on a CV, fosters a sense of belonging in our community, and gives lots of personal satisfaction.

The Pymmes Park Circus is back in town! And so is the funfair 😉

Our Ringmaster Dex still needs a few circus performers for Saturday as the show must go on!

We need at least one more 🤡clown (marshal) and a 🎟️ clipper (barcode scanner) to fill those key performance roles. (A performance critic (report writer) would also be lovely but isn't essential).
