HERA HERA is a charity dedicated to countering human trafficking, gender-based violence and exploitation through entrepreneurship, mentoring and grant making.

Her Equality Rights and Autonomy (HERA) works to prevent human trafficking and re-trafficking through entrepreneurship training, mentoring and grant making. We target women who are survivors of modern slavery, conflict and dangerous migration in addition to women at risk of being trafficked due to their precarious economic and social circumstances. In London (UK), we have partnered with Imperial C

ollege Business School to deliver state of the art entrepreneurship training. HERA graduates then go on to benefit from a year-long mentorship one-on-one programme with senior business executives who provide professional and business advice to boost their career development. In Eastern Europe and the Caucasus, we fund micro, small and medium female-owned ventures who are either owned by survivors of human trafficking or who wish to employ survivors and women at risk. Our team provides tailored advice and mentoring to grantees, in addition to performing on-site evaluations. Follow us on Twitter:

Hello everyone.😊

How can you support HERA Today?

HERA depends on the kindness and generosity of our donors and supporters to make the opportunities we offer possible to more women each year.

HERA provides academic and business training to women survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking. We believe these women have the right to regain financial independence and achieve their own personal and career goals, at HERA we are confident that we can help these women to a path for a better life. We listen, we care and we provide tailored solutions for their individual needs.

Calling on all HERA partners and supporters.

We are currently planning our 2026 business training programme and we need your help and support to provide education, empowerment and training to our clients.

In July, the 2026 Business training & Mentoring programme starts with a 3 week hybrid course covering theoretical and practical learning on setting up a business and skills for working in the business environment. Be part of the programme and sponsor a student!

HERA relies on the generosity of our supporters to be able to make the opportunities for women survivors possible. HERA continues to work with former students, and we will be welcoming new students in a couple of months to undertake our Business Training & Mentoring Programme.

With your help and support, we will be purchasing study materials, tablets, data top ups and welcome packs for our students and survivors who are enrolled for the 2025 business training programme.

HERA has already seen over 40 students in the last 2 years access online training on getting back to work, body language for interviews, and personal finances.

Contributions from supporters like you comprise the heart of what we do and we are grateful for your compassion and generosity.

Over the past five years, our modern slavery system in the UK has been weakened by a string of regressive reforms. We urge the government not to further diminish the protection and support it still offers.

We have joined partners from across the human trafficking and modern slavery sector in response to the announced reforms to modern slavery protections in the new Immigration and Asylum Bill, following the King's Speech.

To prevent human trafficking and modern slavery, we must prioritise prevention, safety, and recovery. Safeguarding must come first, with all survivors supported in rebuilding their lives and reducing the risk of re-trafficking.

We at HERA are co-signatories to this joint response to the King's Speech. We believe the focus should be on prevention, not reaction, to end human trafficking and modern slavery.

HERA continues to support students through thoughtfully curated welcome packages, helping each survivor feel valued from the very beginning. Despite the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, our students remain actively engaged in online learning, building meaningful connections with mentors, pursuing opportunities for personal and professional growth and striving toward brighter futures.

As we prepare for our upcoming onboarding session for a new cohort this June, we are planning to provide Tropic starter welcome packs to empower both students and alumni to launch their own businesses and achieve financial independence.

These packages will be especially meaningful, featuring generous contributions from HERA mentors and supporters, alongside discounted gift packs from our corporate and charity partners. But we cannot do this alone.

Your contribution, no matter the size can have a lasting impact and has the potential to make a profound difference in a survivor’s well-being and future. It can help restore confidence, create opportunity, and support a survivor on their journey to rebuilding their life.

Thank you in advance for your charitable donations.
