HERA

HERA HERA is a charity dedicated to countering human trafficking, gender-based violence and exploitation through entrepreneurship, mentoring and grant making.

Her Equality Rights and Autonomy (HERA) works to prevent human trafficking and re-trafficking through entrepreneurship training, mentoring and grant making. We target women who are survivors of modern slavery, conflict and dangerous migration in addition to women at risk of being trafficked due to their precarious economic and social circumstances. In London (UK), we have partnered with Imperial College Business School to deliver state of the art entrepreneurship training. HERA graduates then go on to benefit from a year-long mentorship one-on-one programme with senior business executives who provide professional and business advice to boost their career development. In Eastern Europe and the Caucasus, we fund micro, small and medium female-owned ventures who are either owned by survivors of human trafficking or who wish to employ survivors and women at risk. Our team provides tailored advice and mentoring to grantees, in addition to performing on-site evaluations. Follow us on Twitter:

HERA continues to support students through thoughtfully curated welcome packages, helping each survivor feel valued from the very beginning. Despite the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, our students remain actively engaged in online learning, building meaningful connections with mentors, pursuing opportunities for personal and professional growth and striving toward brighter futures.

As we prepare for our upcoming onboarding session for a new cohort in June, we are planning to provide notebooks, study materials and welcome packs to support our students and survivors.

These packages will be especially meaningful, featuring generous contributions from HERA mentors and supporters.

We recently asked our students to share their feedback on our business training programme. When asked about their overall experience, here's what one student said.

"This summer I was lucky enough to join the HERA programme.

The business training programme was definitely a great place for learning and understanding business modules both in theory and practice and I'm thankful to all the amazing speakers & professors for sharing their wealth of knowledge with us.

There was also quite a large social aspect to attending the summer training programme; with planned activities every day of the week, I met nice people both during these activities and in class. All of my classmates were motivated to learn and a joy to have worked with.

Thank you, HERA for this wonderful opportunity. I'm excited about the mentoring programme and looking forward to the next mentoring session."

Hello everyone, and happy Tuesday! 😊

We recently asked our students to share their feedback on our business training programme. Here's what one of our students had to say:

"While completing the Sophie Hayes Employability Programme, I enrolled for the 2026 summer business training programme with HERA (Her Equality, Rights, and Autonomy).

During the training programme, we had the opportunity of visiting different businesses and corporate organisations like WEX, Simmons & Simmons, Salesforce, Marriott Hotel and the University of Greenwich.

These visits provided valuable industry exposure and networking opportunities that added significant value to the programme.

At the end of the programme, I completed a 100-day plan about what I learned, my next steps for employment, and my future goals. I learnt a lot about setting up a business and worked hard to complete the business training programme. Thank you so much HERA."
