Hi, I’m Clare, and this is my not-so-little boy Quinn (who is much happier than he appears in photos).😆 I co-founded Kindred Meets last year, whilst on maternity leave, and what started as a passion project is now my part-time job. I’m passionate about helping new parents to connect with each other and with their local community.

In those first precious months of parenthood, life can feel a little bit foggy and overwhelming, sometimes the hours disappear quickly while you feel like you have achieved very little. So finding the time to do research, and to seek out and trial the numerous baby groups and services available to you can feel like a tiring task.

That’s why you’ll love Kindred Meets - we’ve done all the hard work by arranging for a variety of local classes and postnatal specialists to come to you.

Our next Walthamstow programme begins this week, and we have a few spaces left. For more details and to book, go to kindredmeets.com/walthamstow

We’ve introduced a coaching session to close each of our programmes. Hosted by Natalie Mizuik, who co-founded Kindred Meets, The Mother’s Wheel workshop is an opportunity for our Mum’s to reflect on how they are feeling about different aspects of their life - with a focus on what happens after maternity leave ends.

The perfect way to close the programme, and offer some essential advice for what is an under-supported milestone in a Mum’s life.

Our next Walthamstow programme starts this week, and we have a brilliant line-up.

What to expect if you join one of our programmes:

Our programmes are curated especially for new parents, with both parent and baby in mind.

We believe that there are four core areas which, if balanced correctly, make us feel confident and supported as new parents. These are Health & Wellbeing, Creativity, Practical knowledge and an understanding of babies Development.

Our weekly sociable 'Meets' are 90 minutes long so there’s plenty of time for settling yourself and your baby.

We spend time connecting and sharing over different topics.

There’s a baby clothes rail and toy & nappy box to browse - part of our pay-it-forward philosophy.

And each week, we experience a showcase from one of our postnatal specialist partners.

Most importantly, we foster an open and supportive space for kindred minds to meet, learn and share in experiences of parenthood. 💚💚💚💚💚💚

The next Walthamstow programme starts on the 27th June. Tell your friends!

Thank goodness that First Aid is being added to the school curriculum! It seems bizarre to think that this essential life knowledge was not included before now. And First Aid knowledge is definitely something that needs to be revisited when you become a parent.

We welcomed back Danny from Emergency First Aid Ltd, who works for the Fire Service and manages his own training company. As you would expect, we were keen to learn how to deal with the common emergency situations that a baby might experience, like choking and seizures. Although scary to think about, Danny aims to give you the skills to handle emergency situations with confidence.

Emergency First Aid Ltd offer workshops and training for families as well as corporates. You can book private sessions which can be held in your home - a perfect excuse to invite over some new Mum friends or impart knowledge on your family and friends AKA go-to babysitters.

To enquire about booking, you can contact Danny through his social media or email: [email protected]

Sleep, glorious, sleep! 💤

The topic that all parents worry/think about at some point in their child’s life, and it’s often hard to know where you will find a solution that will work for you. The solution you choose is personal to you and your family situation, and ultimately you have to do the best by all of the people sleeping in your house. Often it is necessary to get expert support and guidance, as you get your tired head around it all. 🤪

Marta, AKA The Gentle Sleep Consultant, joined our Meet last week to share her pearls of sleep wisdom. She has spent 15 years supporting parents, and has found the gentle solution to solve all your baby's sleep issues. How? By assessing your baby's sleep, sharing her tried and tested evidence based strategies with you and supporting you to stay consistent. 💚

Marta offers workshops and 1-2-1 consultations - find out more at gentlesleepconsultant.co.uk

We’re so pleased to be welcoming a new partner to our next Kindred Meets programme. We all know the benefits of doing creative things, but it’s difficult to find the time and inspiration when you’re at home on your own with your baby. That’s why Procreations craft workshops are a brilliant idea!

"Procreations is a baby group with a difference, because it's not actually for babies at all. It's for YOU!
Procreations is a friendly, warm and welcoming space where two local mums, Lauren and Claire, run craft workshops.
It's very simple: adults craft, babies play. During these workshops, parents have the opportunity to learn new crafting techniques that will inspire and get the creative juices flowing once again.
We make things to brighten up your walls, garden and babies wardrobe with techniques including tie dye, macramé plant hangers and weave. All materials are provided and each craft is uniquely designed in order to achieve completion within the hour, while entertaining a tiny human. With a selection of toys and a safe, comfortable space for 0-12 month babies to play, Procreations will bring a welcome dose of fun and creativity into your week."

So welcome Claire & Lauren - we can’t wait to get crafting! 👋

Tickets for our next Walthamstow programme are on sale now.

Last week, we welcomed back Jo Redmond of The Health Works to deliver her famous baby massage & yoga class.

Her classes are a lovely combination of Baby Massage, Baby Yoga and Postnatal Stretches for mothers or fathers. Baby Massage and Baby Yoga is a wonderful way to bond with your baby plus give physical and emotional benefits for both of you. Babies are calmer and sleep better and are generally more supple and stronger after these classes. They increase their co-ordination abilities and their nervous system is developed. They also teach a colic routine that is ideal to help babies with digestive problems.

Jo and her daughter Chloe hold Baby Massage & Yoga from the Quaker House, Jewel rd on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Booking can be made via the Health Works website but hurry - they sell out fast!
