Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) is not picky eating. ARFID is an aversion/phobia to certain foods based on sight, smell, texture or colour. 🥦🌽
It can be associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder or a traumatic episode such as choking, reflux or naso gastric feeding.
• This is not your fault.
• Reduce pressure on yourself and your child at mealtimes.
• Aim for positive, calm mealtimes
• Do not force food or withhold food thinking they will eat when they are hungry.
• Eat together, always provide something your child will eat at the table.
• You are not alone. Seek support and help via a health professional.
