Last Sunday, we rounded off an action-packed May with our annual May’s Day Open Day, celebrating the legacy of May Scott, who led Hoxton Hall from 1944–1973.
To mark the occasion, we welcomed the wonderful alongside a fantastic programme of live music, workshops, building tours, and a special exhibition created by students from Central School of Speech and Drama.
Visitors also enjoyed the premiere of a new film by , artwork from ’s Peer Ambassadors, and much more.
For one day, we threw open our doors and invited everyone to explore the building, discover Hoxton Hall’s rich history, and celebrate generations of community, creativity and entertainment.

Hoxton Hall is opening its doors for May’s Day this Sunday 12-4pm! Come

Our Young leaders have been looking back over the history of exhibitions, community classes, music and social clubs over its 173 years history and have curated a Day of Fun in honour of May Scott who was guardian of the hall from 1957-1973.

We have a day of free tours, live music, workshops and refreshment and even a visit from East End Royalty the Pearlies.

We are also happy to host our neighbours Gallery will be sharing some of their Ambassadors original artworks, and Hackney shed will be premiering a film in the main Hall.

HOXTON HALL AT HOXTON MARKET
In preparation for May’s Day Part on the 31st May join Hoxton Hall on Hoxton Market this Saturday 23rd May - 10-3

This is a chance to find out more and even get some of your work into the exhibition on the day! Just come and find us!

We will be making posters, designing stained glass windows and sharing and collecting stories of the Hall and Hoxton.

FREE HALF TERM ACTIVITYS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
As part of our Month of May celebration we are making poetry!

Join us on Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th May 2-4pm for a free creative writing workshop held alongside Central School of Speech and Drama.

Come along to Hoxton Hall and let our young leaders be the hosts as we offer you an insight into the long history of community events held at Hoxton Hall and looking at how our future leaders can continue Hoxton Hall’s history of community engagement.

The day will include tours, live music, exhibitions, film and craft and cake workshops. We will also have a visit from London royalty- The Pearlies!
