CARE International UK We work alongside communities to save lives, defeat poverty and achieve social justice
(228)

CARE seeks a world of hope, tolerance and social justice, where poverty has been overcome and all people live with dignity and security. CARE works around the globe to save lives, defeat poverty and achieve social justice. We put women and girls in the centre because we know that we cannot overcome poverty until all people have equal rights and opportunities.

This morning, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the Philippines, leaving at least 15 people dead and injuring 129 others.

Our hearts are with every family in Mindanao and across the broader region, waking up to fear and loss this morning.

CARE Philippines is coordinating with local governments and authorities to assess needs and stand ready to support communities as the situation develops.

“We know from these experiences that every time disasters occur, the hardest hit are women and girls. CARE is committed to ensuring that assistance reaches the right people, at the right time with the right resources.” - Reiza S. Dejito, Country Director, CARE Philippines

What's happening in Gaza right now?

Increased infections among women and girls due to a lack of sanitary pads. Pregnant women collapsing before reaching the health clinic. Children waiting in long lines to collect and carry heavy water cans for their families. Repeated miscarriages.

This cannot be normalised.

Our team are working hard to serve communities across Gaza. Please support them by donating today: https://donate.careinternational.org.uk/-/XHQGQDGD

There are still good things happening around the world.

CARE's projects with our local partners are delivering cash assistance to families, women are leading in disaster responses, healing and recovering is happening through creativity, women are creating their own incomes.

Thank you to the players of the Postcode Lottery UK who help fund essential work like this around the world. Because of their support, we get to celebrate and stand with people around the world, during the hardest and the brightest times.

Happy Pride Month! 🌈

At CARE International UK, we remain committed to creating a world that realises the rights of all people, no matter their identity.

Only then can everyone live authentically, safely, with dignity, and free from discrimination and prejudice.

Today we're thinking of the layered, often complex, experiences of each individual in the LGBTQIA+ community, particularly those struggling without a support system. Share this post in solidarity 🧡

What is the situation in right now following the recent escalation?

In South Lebanon, entire villages have been devastated. Families are fleeing their homes with only the clothes on their backs.

People are experiencing intense levels of trauma from bombardment and drones. Many women and girls are also experiencing serious impacts on their health, including multiple menstrual cycles or none at all due to extreme stress.

The team at CARE International in Lebanon are meeting people displaced across Lebanon, delivering food, water, hygiene kits, and psychological first aid through our trained psychologists.

We are meeting needs where they are — in shelters, on the streets, and in hard-to-reach communities across the country.

Please donate to help our team continue this life-saving work: https://careint.uk/4baKGds

Periods don’t hold people back — stigma does.

This World Menstrual Hygiene Day, we’re challenging attitudes and calling for better access, education, and dignity for everyone who menstruates around the world.

Because no one should feel ashamed of something so natural which over 2 billion people experience each month.

The WHO has declared the new Ebola outbreak in the as a public health emergency.

So far, there are more than 600 suspected cases with approximately 139 deaths reported as of 20 May 2026, however the spread is almost certainly more than current numbers reflect.

As caregivers, women are at a heightened risk of exposure and the combination of their needs already going unmet along with the spread of this highly infectious disease, could be devastating.

CARE DRC is already mobilising a response, targeting 500,000 to 1,000,000 people in affected and high-risk areas.

If you’d like to donate to CARE to support our work, including in emergencies like this, all donations would be gratefully received: https://donate.careinternational.org.uk/page/please-donate 🧡

We are devastated to hear of the recent r**e allegations that have emerged from .

Regardless of whether it's in the news, every woman deserves to be safe from violence.

In our work we are seeing the rising tide of violence against women and girls around the world, especially during conflict and crisis.

We stand in solidarity with survivors, in the UK and globally.
