A small Eid gift. A much bigger story.
Let me share a story.
A young woman came to the UK from a remote village in Bangladesh. She had a young child and was trying to find a way to earn some income. She did not know what work she could do. In her life she probably never imagined herself working or earning her own money.
After living in the UK for more than five years, she began to understand something important. She had the freedom to work. She could learn. She could earn. She could contribute.
And then she connected with Tiffinwalli ® CIC.
It was not always easy. She worked hard, learned quickly and showed real commitment. Sometimes she had to bring her young daughter with her because childcare was not affordable. But she kept going.
Then last week, something very simple happened.
She bought an Eid gift for her husband from her own income. An Abaya Robe and also dress for her daughter.
Her husband was deeply moved. He was almost in tears. He told her that all his life, he had worked for others, supported his family and helped his siblings establish themselves. But this was the first time someone had bought something for him from their own earnings, and it came from his wife.
For many people, giving or receiving a gift may feel ordinary.
But for this woman, it was not ordinary.
It was confidence.
It was independence.
It was the joy of being able to contribute.
It was the moment she realised, “I can do this.”
This is the impact 'YOU' are making through TiffinWalli.
Every catering order is not just food on a table. It helps create paid opportunities for women who are often
- unseen,
- unheard and
- underestimated.
