It’s International Volunteer Day!

A huge thank you to the 5 million incredible volunteers across . Volunteers have been at the heart of Scouts since the very beginning in 1907, and they remain absolutely essential to everything we do today.

Without a volunteer, a Cub Scout joining for the very first time wouldn’t have been able to take their first steps into our movement.
Without a volunteer like a Scout Leader, a young person wouldn’t have learned a new skill for life.
And without volunteers, our amazing camps, jamborees, and international adventures simply wouldn’t happen.

Thank you to every section leader, commissioner, supporter, board member, and committee member. Without your dedication, we wouldn’t have the movement we’re so proud of today. 🤗

Home and fully recovered after a brilliant 28th Asia-Pacific Scout Conference with ✨

It was wonderful to reconnect with friends old and new, and to spend time talking about the importance of Safe from Harm. It’s truly heartwarming to see how much value the Region places on this work and to hear about the progress being made.

A huge congratulations to the new APR Scout Committee! And a big thank you to everyone who put themselves forward for election — even if you weren’t successful this time. It takes courage to stand, and our Movement relies on people like you stepping up to volunteer. 👏

Congratulations as well to our next event hosts in the Region — Hong Kong 🇭🇰, who will host the next Asia-Pacific Scout Conference, and Thailand 🇹🇭, who will welcome us for the next Asia-Pacific Jamboree! Exciting times ahead for Scouting in the Region. 🌏✨

I’m excited to see how the Region delivers on its Regional Scout Plan, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit to the Great Asia-Pacific Region! 🤗

🌍✈️ That’s me heading home from Kenya after an incredible meeting with the World Scout Committee—my first time in Africa!

We had great discussions with colleagues, but the real highlight was meeting the local Scouts and seeing firsthand the impact Scouting has in their communities. Kenya has over 4 million youth members, a true testament to the strength of the movement here!

It was also special to recognise a National Scout Organisation which has a significant place in our history—where BP chose to spend his last days. Scouting continues to thrive, and it’s inspiring to see!

Thank you to the staff at for all the work supporting the meeting and for making us feel so welcome. I’ll definitely be back 😊 🇰🇪

What a year! 2024 was certainly one to remember ☺️

From the incredible build-up to the World Scout Conference in Cairo to the privilege of speaking with so many inspiring members of National Scout Organisations, it’s been a journey filled with purpose and connection. 🌍

Finishing my role as International Commissioner in the UK was bittersweet, but I’m so glad my good friend .j.murray has taken over the reins. He’s already doing an amazing job, and I couldn’t be more confident in the future of international Scouting in the U.K. under his leadership. 🙌

Being elected to the World Scout Committee is a humbling honor. Now, I’m excited to roll up my sleeves and deliver on what we promised to achieve together.

Here’s to shaping the future of Scouting! 🔥

Arrived safely in Indonesia! Such a lovely welcome from the Scouts in Indonesia. Now to meet the rest of the committee and get to work

First outing of the new scarf as I head off to the induction of the new Word Scout Committee in Jakarta, Indonesia.

I’m looking forward to getting to know the rest of the committee and World Scout Bureau staff better, agreeing for how we will work over the next three years and planning on how we deliver on our mandate from our 176 National Scout Organisations.

Thank you to the World Organization of the Scout Movement - WOSM Bureau team for all the preparation work and the Scouts in Indonesia for hosting us.
