Last month, some of the Mind in Haringey team attended the Black Health Research Fair in Haringey 💙

Held by and organised as part of the North Central London Research Engagement Network, the event brought together local residents, community organisations, and research institutions. It was a wonderful and vibrant community event, filled with important conversations, and it was great to have our table there alongside lots of brilliant organisations.

Black communities are significantly underrepresented in health research, and that has a real impact on identifying and treating the health conditions that disproportionately affect Black people. Through stalls, health checks, presentations, and a panel discussion, residents had the chance to learn more about ongoing research, ask questions, and even get involved in studies on the day.

Our Haringey Health Champion supporting African and Caribbean Communities works to address some of these deep-rooted health inequalities by decreasing barriers to access, building trust, and providing culturally informed support.
