VICTORY PARK UPDATE:
Following a handover meeting yesterday afternoon, Victory Community Park has re-opened to the public this morning. Thank you for your patience during these works.

The park will be locked from dusk to dawn the same as before and the nature garden will be closed at all times unless the community group is holding a volunteering session. There remains some final planting of grasses and shrubs in the borders which we have decided to delay until the Autumn planting season to allow the plants the best chance to establish.

Many thanks for your assistance on the project as we have progressed though the consultations and design stages, I hope you can see how your feedback has helped shape the design and final park.

You are invited to celebrate the improvements at Victory Community Park, at an opening event on Saturday 7 September, from 1.00pm to 4.00pm.

update on Bakerloo Line extension plans... subject to funds construction could start in 2030,,,

Transport for London has published a new indicative timescale for the construction of a Bakerloo line extension from Elephant & Castle to Lewisham via the Old Kent Road.

This is an update on the construction project at Victory Community Park, the works are progressing well. Initially, we were able to keep a small area of the park open. However, now the entire park will need to be closed from 3 January until completion of the works, expected in spring 2024.

Update received about Victory Park:

From Monday 6 November the park will be closed to the public as the council is undertaking landscaping works to deliver the improvements at Victory Community Park.

The scheme includes Victory Community Park and the Nature Garden. For more information about the project please visit;

Construction will take approximately 22 weeks and is due to complete in the spring. Areas of the park will remain open to the public until approximately January 2024 at which time it will be completely closed for works.

I will update this project mailing/contact list regularly on progress during the construction works. We hope to have several community planting and ‘meet the contractor’ days where the community can help create your new park.
