We were delighted to launch this film this week, as part of

As part of our commitment to tackling the health inequalities faced by unpaid carers, we created this film to reach those who have not yet recognised themselves as carers.

By sharing it in GP surgeries across the borough, we hope people will see their own experiences reflected, realise they are not alone, and feel encouraged to register with us, as a carer.

Our aim is to support carers early, before they reach crisis point, so that they can access the help, advice and wellbeing services that they deserve.

We're here to support carers across the borough. See link in comments for more information on how the Carers Centre can support unpaid carers.

Did you know?

People across north east London are now able to text 07860 009642 to reach NHS 111’s mental health crisis support service.

A member of the NHS 111, Option 2 team will respond as soon as they can. They will provide psychological support and signpost to services that can offer mental health support.

This service is available for anyone who would rather text than call. For many people, words may be too difficult to say out loud, or they may not want to be overheard making a confidential phone call.

You can also find details of crisis cafés and walk-in mental health support in North East London and the City of London by visiting:

This week (11-17 May) is Mental Health Awareness Week.

It is intended to encourage people to talk openly about mental health, reduce stigma, and promote practical ways to support emotional wellbeing.

This year’s Mental Health Week’s theme is very pertinent to carers because it encourages people to ‘Take Action: for yourself, for someone else, for all of us, encouraging each one of us to take meaningful steps—big or small—to support mental health in our own lives and within our communities.

Our local division of Mind Charity in Tower Hamlets, Newham and Redbridge will be holding an event on Wednesday 13th May to mark Mental Health Awareness Week.

We are working with Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) to create a short film that helps people recognise that they are carers and encourages them to register for support.

We’re looking for carers who would be happy to be involved and share their experiences as a carer. The film will be shown in GP surgeries and other health‑related settings, helping carers reach support earlier.

You don’t need any filming experience, just a willingness to help other carers feel seen and supported.

Join the Tower Hamlets Mental Health Alliance for a fresh approach to su***de prevention where sharing space, open conversations & fresh ideas meet community action.

Taking place on Monday 30 March, this summit will bring together partners, practitioners, and people with lived experience to reflect, connect, and co‑create actions that support su***de prevention in Tower Hamlets.

This event is open to everyone. It’s important that that there are a wide range of participants present on the day, to develop an understanding of different views and to create a plan to help prevent su***de, with a culturally sensitive approach.

We will also post regular reminders, and links to our website, on our Facebook and Instagram pages too.

Thank you for bearing with us. We’ll update you as soon as our email service is restored. In the meantime, please continue checking what’s on and booking activities through [email protected]
