Such a great discussion in York for the latest stop on our Disability & Entrepreneurship: Across the UK tour!

An interesting theme from the conversation was just how vast and varied Yorkshire is, and how different the experience of starting and growing a business can be across the region.

We heard about some of the particular challenges for Disabled and neurodivergent founders living in rural and coastal areas, including accessing business support, networks and opportunities that can often be centred around bigger towns and cities.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and shared their experiences, and to Barclays Eagle Labs for supporting us to have these conversations across the UK.

Can you join us in Glasgow?

As part of our Disability & Entrepreneurship regional tour with Barclays Eagle Labs, we're heading to Glasgow, on Tuesday 20th October, to meet Disabled and neurodivergent founders.

We want to hear what it's really like to start and grow a business in Glasgow and the surrounding area.

What's working well locally? What support is available? What are the challenges? And what could be done differently?

It's also a great opportunity to meet other founders, share experiences and make new connections.

The conversations we're having across the UK will help shape a national report later this year.

Elin is the founder, and sole developer of a new app, which is designed to to support Disabled people and the elderly to navigate according to their own needs, without having to use multiple platforms.

We're back with another Lilac Live this week, and this time we'll be joined by the brilliant Kat Bell, founder of Eden of England!

Kat has lived with chronic pain and multiple disabilities for many years, and her own journey of finding what worked for her, reconnecting with nature and discovering wild swimming helped inspire the business she runs today.

We'll be chatting to Kat about starting Eden of England, building a business alongside disability and chronic pain, how her lived experience has shaped what she does and everything she's learnt along the way.

“This has never happened in Wales before.”

Just one of the comments from our guests this morning at the first of our Disability & Entrepreneurship: Across the UK events, taking place throughout October.

We’re thrilled to be working with Barclays and their brilliant Eagle Labs teams to find out what’s working well regionally, where the barriers still are, and what opportunities exist for Disabled and neurodivergent founders.

The feedback from these sessions will inform a national white paper, and we wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who made today’s first event one to remember, and for being so open and honest with your contributions. A special mention too for, Emily and Chris for being such welcoming hosts!

Looking forward to keeping in touch with all the brilliant Welsh-based businesses we met today. And Bristol, thanks for making the trip too, Ryan!

The Lilac Centre and Barclays are bringing together Disabled and neurodivergent founders from Middlesbrough and the surrounding area for a morning of conversation and networking.

We want to know what it's really like to start and grow a business locally.

What's working well? What's missing? How easy is it to find business support and finance? And how connected do you feel to the wider local business community?

What we hear in Middlesbrough, alongside conversations with founders across the UK, will help inform a national report later this year.
