Today, after 15 years, we say goodbye to Voices That Shake!. We began as an organisation running radical youth courses. While our courses and events evolved from their initial inception, they never deviated from our praxis and principles. 🫶🏿

We’ve been honoured to have been a space for young people to find their voice; and to later support facilitators and youth workers to continue this work. Voices that Shake! means bringing people together to develop creative responses to injustice. We remain proud of our choice to commit to a chosen ending, on our terms, and in our way, knowing that this work will still continue. 🔥

We want to express a gargantuan amount of gratitude to all of our staff and contractors, past and present, organisations and collectives we’ve worked with, everyone who has attended, participated and helped shape a Shake! event, bought our books, downloaded our resources, read our pieces on our website, and engaged with us on social media. Collectively, together, we will still be dismantling, visioning, re-building and cultivating a future praxis and embodiment of transformative justice and systemic change. Today, forever and always. ❤️‍🔥

Three weeks ago today, we held a pop-up exhibition and our last ever exhibition. 🥹

This beautiful, emotional day was the perfect way to say goodbye to Voices That Shake! after 15 years of showcases, courses and other events filled with creativity across many practices, radical praxis, connectivity with nature, mutual learning and healing, nourishing food and so much more. 🌱

Big thank you to our performers, Jerri Yambuya; Zoe Daniels; Blue and Cash Webster; Alex Augustin; Akeim Toussaint Buck; Annie Rockson; Idriss Kamtcheu; Tania Aubeelack; Jally Kebba Susso; Numbi Arts; our DJs, Inda Flo and Jlte Taygeta; and our MC, Rotimi Skyers! 💓

Thank you so much to Lauriem Letchimy Boval for creating the an incredibly fitting soundscape that played during the exhibition; Grace Lee for our gorgeous animations and Teju Adeleye for the dedicatedly crafted soundscapes that played in between each section of the night’s performers. Thank you to Ella Frost for perfectly capturing the event through these photos, and to Haneen Hammou and Hajra Gulamrassul for making the warm and friendly environment of our exhibition possible.
