We work with individuals of all faiths and none; our sole aim is to help those in greatest need.

Helping children get the best possible start

Across our early years services, we create welcoming and nurturing spaces where young children can play, explore, learn and grow and where parents and carers can feel supported too.
From our nursery provision to Stay & Play sessions, our work helps children build confidence, develop important early skills and form relationships, while giving families opportunities to connect with others and access support when they need it. Supporting a child in their earliest years also means supporting the people around them.

Behind every number is a child and family with their own story. At St Francis Nursery & Family Centre, we aim to provide much more than early education. We want children to feel happy, safe and confident, while ensuring their parents and carers feel welcomed and supported too. It is always wonderful to hear from families about the difference St Francis has made to them and to see children grow in confidence, develop new skills and build friendships during their time with us.

The early years are such an important time in a child’s development and having the right support in place can make a lasting difference. Through our early years work, CCS supports young children and their families, helping to create safe, nurturing environments where children can learn, develop and thrive.
From practical and emotional support for families to high-quality early education and opportunities for children to build confidence, relationships and essential skills, we aim to give every child the best possible start in life.

This year, we were proud to support almost 600 children and families through this work.

Through our Crisis Fund, we were able to help Alex and his mum when they had to flee their home because of domestic abuse. As they had to leave all their belongings behind, we were able to help provide beds, furniture and essential household items, helping to transform their empty flat into a place where they could begin to feel settled and secure. At the Catholic Children’s Society, these principles are at the heart of our work with schools. We help pupils explore and put Catholic Social Teaching into action by: understanding the dignity of every person; recognising the needs of others and discovering how they can make a positive difference in their communities.

Through assemblies, school visits, resources and opportunities for fundraising and social action we encourage children and young people to turn compassion into action and live out their faith through service to others.
