Southall Community Alliance Charity SCA is committed to strengthening and empowering the groups that we work with to play a fuller role in our community.

Southall Community Alliance (SCA) was established as an independent charitable organisation in 2000 to work with residents and community groups in the Southall area. We have a long history of responding to the needs of local voluntary sector organisations and currently run a Community Resource Centre, which provides support services to many local groups.

Mahila Sabha at Kew Gardens - 29/9/26

We helped to arrange a visit for the women from Mahila Sabha to Kew Gardens yesterday. The day was blessed with lovely weather and many of the women had never visited Kew and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Southall Community Alliance aims to help local people overcome the challenges of social isolation and improve their well being. Arranging trips and providing learning opportunities does help residents enjoy new experiences that impacts positively on their mood and well being.

History talk at Hambrough Primary - 29/9/26

Southall Community Alliance has restarted our programme of school visits to talk to pupils about local history. We visited Hambrough Primary School yesterday and met their Yr 5 & 6 pupils and had a nice session with them.

As well as learning about local history, we hope to create a better understanding of Southall and pride in the area.

Onam in Southall - 27/9/26

The British Keralites Association (BKA) arrange arranged another very successful Onam celebration at Featherstone High School.

Hundreds of people attended and all were treated to the usual cultural meal on banana leaf and then enjoyed a programme of entertainment and dance in the main hall.

Onam is a cultural and harvest festival celebrated by the people of Kerala and it is very colourful and welcoming.

Many thanks to Bastian Bennett and all the very gracious volunteers from BKA for being so kind and welcoming.

SCA Community Forum meeting - 24/9/26

Our first community forum meeting after the summer break took place on 24th September and had a detailed discussion about parking and highways in Southall. Tony Singh and Tom Gallagher from Ealing Council came and dealt with public queries and concerns during the meeting.

We also had a short presentation about smoking cessation from Amelia Sarmouk of EHCVS

Research priorities in Ealing

Southall Community Alliance is a partner in the Health Determinants Research Collaboration project to build community research capacity in Ealing.

Last week we all attended a priority identifying session in Ealing to list different possible priorities for research in Thethy borough. There were some very important possible issues to consider for a research that could improve health and well-being locally.

Climate Action at Western Road - 22/9/26

We arranged a Climate Action Day at our Western Road Urban Garden on 22nd September. Fortunately, we had fantastic weather for the day and amazing work delivered by business volunteers from the Low Carbon Contracts Company.

The latter part of the day involved us interacting with families mainly from nearby schools. We gave the children seeds to plant and showed people around the garden.

It was a very successful day, thanks to the hard work of all the team, Ash Chumber, and the amazing Kash and her work colleagues.

The amazing volunteers from Good Gym came to our monthly community day at our Urban Garden. Kash and colleagues have been amazing contributors to the work at the Garden over the years. Sputhall Community Alliance supporting Nepal relief effort

The world was recently shocked by the devastating images of the disaster in Nepal which has caused so much damage and taken so many lives.

To show solidarity and support for people in dire need in Nepal, Southall Community Alliance used our recent community awards evening to raise funds for the disaster relief effort.

We had a community raffle that raised £2015 for the relief effort and we presented this sum to our Nepalese colleagues today at Southall Park, just ahead of the weekly Park Run. Thanks also to Monica and Kuldip from Let’s Go Southall for helping in the park.

Well done to our trustees who came today; Jags, Tajinder and James for confirming our commitment to help people affected by the Nepal disaster.
