Leave a legacy ❤️

Liza Sadovy, one of our members, explains why she has chosen to leave a gift in her Will.

Over many years, gifts in Wills have created a lasting legacy of support for actors and stage managers in need. They give us both the confidence and the means to expand and strengthen the services we provide to our profession.

If you would like more information about leaving a gift in your Will, or if you have already chosen to support Actors’ Trust in this way, we would love to hear from you 🥰

"We've all got something - and this was my thing"

Emily Blunt, star of Disclosure Day and The Devil Wears Prada, recently spoke to Today Show about her experience growing up with a stutter, and the frustration, "helplessness" and "loneliness" that can come with it.

Her story is a reminder that many in our industry are navigating challenges that aren't always visible.

At Actors' Trust, we're here to support actors and stage managers through life's challenges - because no one should have to face them alone.

"My mental health and search for happiness was exacerbated by working in an industry that is all highs and lows all the time.”

Hannah Murray, star of Game of Thrones and Skins, recently opened up to Elizabeth Day on the How To Fail podcast about how mental health challenges, including bipolar disorder, shaped her relationship with acting and ultimately led to her decision to leave the industry. We highly recommend giving it a listen.

Murray has since found a new creative path as an author. In her memoir, The Make-Believe: A Memoir of Magic and Madness, she shares more of her story.

Hannah’s experience reflects our recent research showing that 78% of actors experienced mental health challenges in the past year, while six in ten performers across the arts industry are affected by body image concerns.

Hannah also spoke about the isolation she experienced, explaining that “a sense of community was something I was struggling to find”, while many of her non-industry friends struggled to understand periods of unemployment between jobs - asking “What do you do all day?”.

Our research also highlights the social isolation many performers experience, with 77% of actors reporting feelings of loneliness in the past year.

No matter what you're facing, you don't have to go through it alone. Actors' Trust is here for you. Reach out today❤️

Congratulations to all of the winners - including Lesley Manville, John Lithgow, Caissie Levy, Joshua Henry, Laurie Metcalf, Alden Ehrenreich, Shoshana Bean and Ali Louis Bourzgui - who took home this year’s acting prizes.

It’s always powerful to see performances, stories and artists celebrated on theatre’s biggest stage.
