FISH Neighbourhood Care

FISH Neighbourhood Care FiSH Neighbourhood Care provides volunteer friendship, help and support in Barnes, Mortlake and East Sheen. What is FiSH? What does FiSH do? Yes, please!

FiSH was one of the first Neighbourhood Care organisations in the country. Established in 1962, it has now served the community for over 50 years. FiSH is a registered charity and Company Limited by Guarantee, and is managed by a board of Directors. FiSH volunteers offer to collect shopping and prescriptions, provide transport to local hospital appointments, and fulfil many other requests. We rare

ly say no but we might refer you to other sources of help. We offer additional practical support to people who have recently come out of hospital. What FiSH does not do
FiSH does not offer personal care, help with medication, cleaning or large DIY projects. The area FiSH covers:
Anyone needing our help should live in the FiSH ‘service area.’ This is mainly within postcodes SW13 and SW14, TW10 and some of SW15. All FiSH clients must live in the London Borough of Richmond. Does it cost anything? There is a yearly subscription of £20 to register as a FiSH user. This gives you access to services such as the Helpline. A Newsletter will be mailed, or emailed, to your home three times a year. The subscription does not cover our costs and we rely on donations to enable us to maintain and develop our services. Our volunteers will accept donations and pass them on to our office. What else does FiSH do? Befriending - The FiSH one-to-one befriending scheme is for people who, for whatever reason, may be isolated and / or feeling lonely. We offer both face-to-face (visiting) or telephone befriending. Please ask us for details. FiSH Accessible Minibus (operated in partnership with Richmond and Kingston Accessible Transport - RaKAT); which offers:
• Daily transport to and from activities held locally
• Transport for outings to museums, theatres, stately homes, gardens and pub lunches
• Door-to-door supermarket shopping trips
• Volunteer helpers accompany all outings
• The FiSH bus and additional buses can be hired by local community groups by telephoning 020 8876 3765

Can I volunteer? We always need volunteers to help in the local community! Some give us a day or two a week, while others give an hour or two a month. No matter how much time you can spare us, it will always be very welcome and gratefully received. For further details about volunteering with FiSH, please call the FiSH office on 020 8876 3336 or email [email protected]

Huge thanks to everyone who supported FiSH Open Gardens yesterday. Barnes turned out in force in record numbers and we are so grateful! We owe so much to our fabulous garden owners, volunteer garden-sitters, bus drivers, cake-makers, tea servers, Pimm's fruit choppers and servers, set-up and dismantlers, and to members of the wonderful Barnes Concert Band who played beautiful music on Barnes Green. And of course our amazing sponsors Savills and Barnes Artists❤ It was a perfect day. We can never thank our volunteers enough - on national volunteers' week and every week.🌹
