Today, as America marks Independence Day, it feels right to remember Ida B. Wells-Barnett.

Born into slavery in 1862, Ida became one of the most courageous journalists and civil rights voices of her time. She used truth as her weapon, exposing injustice, challenging violence, and refusing to stay silent when silence would have been safer.

Her legacy is a reminder that freedom is not just declared. It has to be defended, widened, protected and lived.

On TributeLegacy, we honour Ida not only for what she fought against, but for what she stood for: courage, dignity, justice and the power of one voice to light the way for many.

🌳 From selling underground magazines on the King’s Road to building a publishing empire, Felix Dennis lived a hundred lives in one. But his greatest legacy isn’t the millions he made. It’s the millions of trees he planted.

In 1996 he put a small wood in the ground at Dorsington, Warwickshire. Today the Heart of England Forest has grown to over two million native broadleaf trees, and it’s still growing towards a 30,000 acre goal.

He turned a fortune into a forest. A man remembered not by what he gathered, but by what he left rooted in the earth for the rest of us.
