Haematology Cancer Care, UCLH Charity

Haematology Cancer Care, UCLH Charity Supporting haematology at UCLH for over 30 years! HCC is part of UCLH Charity.

Haematology Cancer Care brings together patients, families and staff through activities and events, helping our haematology unit deliver transformational treatment at UCLH. For over 25 years patients and staff have been choosing to support Haematology Cancer Care because we help the Haematology Service deliver transformational treatment and personalised care at UCLH. We have a strong community of

patients, families and staff committed to supporting haematological cancers through fundraising activities and events. Uniquely, we are run by senior clinical staff working closely with all haematology teams and haematology patients ensuring donations make a significant impact on the services here at UCLH. We provide wide-ranging support including high-tech medical equipment and research projects, free complementary therapy for patients and families and specialist education for nurses across six inpatient wards, day-care, ambulatory care and young adult and outpatient services.

The London Bridgathon is a great day out for all the family, including four legged friends! It's a great walking route along The Thames and across the bridges, with lots of places to see and stop at along the way.

Check out this amazing short video of Benji's day out at the Bridgathon with owner (and brilliant film maker) Shiv Pandya https://www.instagram.com/p/DOVXt4_gjQv/ at last year's walk!

London 10K, 12 July 2026

'As many of you know I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in November 2020. I was told to pack a bag and come to hospital because I would be away from my family for sometime. I was scared and worried about leaving my 4 young children and my husband. What with this being in the middle of Covid too, it all felt incredibly surreal and frightening. I was scooped up in love and supported by my family and friends in London and all over the world, colleagues and neighbours too. I was blown away by all the little things people did for me and for my family - it gave me great comfort to know they were being looked after - I'll never forget it.

I am so thankful that I was steered to Dr Andrew Wilson and Professor Adele Fielding and all the clinicians and nurses in the Haematology team . They saved my life and I will never forget their kindness.

I could talk all day about how incredible the team were to me during my illness, particularly that awful first year which was doubly isolating because of Covid. The Ambi care team were like family and reduced the loneliness and the wonderful Haematology team continue to care for me today.

5 years on it would be great to give something back while I am well and fit enough to say thank you to HCC, and this wonderful team.'

A lovely time was had by all at a Family Fun Day in Regents Park at the weekend! Organised by Nurses Wellbeing leads Bernadette Baker and Louisa Stagni and supported by HCC. Nurses and their families gathered together for a day of kite making, decorating and flying, with lots of snacks and yummy pizza! We hope that everybody had lots of fun, it certainly looks like it! Advanced Clinical Assessment, Critical thinking and Diagnostic Reasoning across Life Span, 2026

‘I work in a speciality ward – haematology - and I felt I needed to enhance my knowledge – particularly around patient assessments. Having this qualification means I can assess patients and recognise symptoms before the need to call the doctors, and this is important for me and for the patient experience.

Thank you, HCC, for supporting me and funding my career development and I look forward to running in the London 10K this July!’ 🥇🏃‍♀️❤️
