Would you like to know how to support someone experiencing thoughts of su***de?

RCVS Mind Matters are currently piloting some new su***de prevention training. ‘Talking about su***de:10 tools (TAS:10)’ from Start the Conversation Ltd gives you the practical tools and confidence to start a compassionate and potentially life-saving conversation, with someone you are worried about. The skills are transferable and can be used to support colleagues, clients, loved ones or members of the public.

We'd like to say a huge thank you to William Manley, who took on the London Marathon this year to raise funds for Vetlife in memory of his dad, Charlie, who sadly died by su***de in April 2025.

After Charlie's death, Will and his family turned to Vetlife for support. Over the following months, we were able to provide financial assistance and access to counselling, helping the family through an incredibly difficult time.

Having secured a charity place, Will trained throughout the wet Cornish winter before taking on the London Marathon. Surrounded by his family and friends on race day, he crossed the finish line in an impressive 4½ hours.

Thanks to Will's incredible determination and the generosity of his supporters, he raised almost £7,000 to help Vetlife continue supporting members of the veterinary community when they need it most.

Thank you, Will, for sharing your story, honouring Charlie's memory, and making such a meaningful difference.

Could you take on the London Marathon for Vetlife? We have one charity place available for the 2027 London Marathon. To register your interest, email [email protected].
