📢 Important Update: Post-16 Travel Assistance (From September 2026)

We would like to make families aware of important changes to Post-16 travel assistance arrangements coming into effect from September 2026.

Key updates include:
✅ Introduction of financial contributions for arranged transport
✅ A new requirement to reapply annually for travel assistance
📩 A detailed letter outlining these changes has been shared, and a separate email will also be sent directly to:

Families currently receiving Post-16 transport
Learners moving into Post-16 provision from September 2026

🌟 Important Virtual Event for SEND Families and Professionals 🌟

Include Me TOO, Black SEN Mamas and South Asian SEN Mamas are hosting an important interactive online event focusing on the impact of SEND reforms on Black, Asian and minoritized disabled children, young people, and their families.

Despite growing evidence of racial disparities within SEND, many families continue to face inequality, barriers to support, exclusion, and lack of representation—and these voices are still too often overlooked in national discussions.

This event aims to ensure that voices from diverse communities are heard and included in shaping future SEND policy and practice.

💬 Discussions will explore:

Whether SEND reforms risk disproportionately affecting Black, Asian and minoritized children and young people

What needs to change to address inequality within the SEND system
Why it is vital that diverse voices are heard in SEND reform proposals
How we can collectively tackle barriers to advocacy, inclusion and representation

👥 Who should attend?
SEND parents and carers, professionals, educators, and allies are all strongly encouraged to attend.

🌟 Paid Internship Opportunity – Kiln Theatre 🌟

A fantastic opportunity is available for a young person with a learning disability to take part in a paid 12‑month internship with Kiln Theatre.

This role is funded by the John Lyons Charity and delivered in partnership with Pursuing Independent Paths, with additional interview support and job coaching for the first 9 weeks of the internship. The recruitment process has been designed to be inclusive and accessible.

🎭 Role: Production Intern
Gain hands-on experience in:

How theatre productions work
Technical theatre (lighting, sound, staging)
Behind-the-scenes operations

The platform, SENLens, provides detailed listings of venues, each with a unique sensory/SEN score based on real reviews. This includes helpful information such as:

Noise levels
Queue expectations
Staff awareness and support
Availability of quiet sessions
Accepted disability access cards (CEA, Sunflower, Access Card)

Supported Internship Opportunity for Young People with SEND

A 1-year supported internship programme is available in partnership with Marriott Hotel, Heathrow. The programme is aimed at young people with SEND and is designed to help them develop skills, confidence and experience to prepare for paid employment.
