Darji Mitra Mandal UK Darji Mitra Mandal of the UK (Reg Charity), founded in 1955 is run entirely by volunteers with huge support from & for the benefit of the Darji community.

The Darji Mitra Mandal of the UK was constituted in 1958 and was established in the UK to support the Darji community to be together and live in harmony with each other by participation, co-operation, mutual understanding and to help needy community members in India. These principles, set half a century ago by these foresighted founding members were adopted by those who joined them from all differ

Adapting to modern life we strive to maintain our Hindu traditions in today's modern, fast paced life. Taking time out to connect with friends and family through the generations is important for our community. Today, as over the past fifty years the Mandal is run entirely by the members for the members and exists through the kind support of the community. In turn the Mandal aims to help members wherever it can.

On Saturday 20th June 2026, Nish Tailor with a couple others will be taking on their Walk for Change Challenge, starting from Battersea Park ๐ŸŒ‰. They will walk 15km across 11 of Londonโ€™s most iconic bridges, all to support the brilliant work of The Kula Foundation ๐Ÿงก.

Every step helps The Kula Foundation create real, lasting change. With last yearsโ€™ support, theyโ€™re installing a 5000L water tank in Kenya, supporting a school & toilet built with Eco Bricks to irrigation systems that help lift women out of poverty through urban farming in Kampala Uganda ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฌ ๐ŸŒฑ, washable nappy programme for young wheelchair users that save families in Tanzania money every month ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฟ ๐Ÿ‘ถ, and local UK initiatives such as creating an edible forest garden in Nottingham ๐ŸŒณ.

We have helped over 1120 people already! This year, Nish is hoping to raise the bar for more projects like these with a ยฃ5000 goal!๐ŸŽฏ

If youโ€™d like to support this year, you can donate here: https://donate.giveasyoulive.com/donate?eid=31733

๐Ÿค Volunteers' Week 2026 โ€” Be part of our story.

At DMMUK, Volunteers' Week is not just a national campaign โ€” it is our whole story.

We are a registered charity, founded in 1955 and run entirely by volunteers. Every event, every community programme, every support service we offer exists because someone raised their hand and said, "I'll help."

Right now, we are looking for people to join us and there is a role for everyone:
๐ŸŽ‰ Event volunteers โ€” help us plan and deliver celebrations and share our traditions that bring our community together
๐Ÿ“‹Back-office support โ€” admin, logistics, coordination; the vital work that keeps the cogs turning
๐Ÿ“ฃ Skills-based volunteering โ€” got a background in finance, design, IT or anything else? We would love to hear from you.

We welcome people at every stage of life, from every corner of the UK, who want to put their skills to work for something that truly matters.

Volunteering with DMMUK is more than just giving back, it is belonging to a legacy that has united the Darji community across the UK for nearly seven decades. THANK YOU!

๐ŸŒŸHappy Volunteers' Week from DMMUK! 1st โ€“7th June 2026

This week, the UK celebrates the millions of volunteers who keep communities alive through the simple act of giving their time, skills and energy.

โœจ What does volunteering really mean?
It's choosing to give your time freely to help and support others, and it takes countless forms, from: running a community event, mentoring a young person, stuffing envelopes at midnight, managing spreadsheets no one else will touch, or simply showing up and making people feel welcome.

There is no such thing as a small contribution; every single role matters.

And here at Darji Mitra Mandal, we know this better than most.

For over 70 years, Darji Mitra Mandal of the UK has stood as proof of what a community can build when people choose to show up, not because they have to, but because they want to.

Our community doesn't run itself. Behind every successful event, every celebration, every gathering, every initiative that brings our people together, there is a team of passionate volunteers making it happen.

๐Ÿ‘‹๐ŸฝSome of you are front-facing: welcoming guests, organising activities and keeping the energy alive.

๐Ÿ’ซBut many of you work quietly in the background: handling admin, managing logistics, replying to messages and keeping the cogs turning long after everyone else has gone home.

๐Ÿ‘๐ŸฝYou are all our unsung heroes. And this week, we celebrate you and from the bottom of our hearts โ€“ a massive thank you.

๐Ÿ’ซDMMUK is not a building. It is not a committee. It is every single person who has given their time to our community.

๐Ÿ’œThinking about joining the team? We would love to have you. Drop us a message on Facebook messenger, email [email protected] or join our WhatsApp community Volunteers group here ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://chat.whatsapp.com/G87Utda4cAR6gXeuJfGN8Q?s=cl&p=i&ilr=4
