Challenge Ministries UK

Challenge Ministries UK Kingdom transformation, one life at a time 🇸🇿 We are a Christian organisation that works throughout Eswatini.

Our mission is to raise a nation of kingdom leaders, one life at a time. Our holistic approach works with the individual, our vision is to raise up a generation of Godly, educated leaders who will transform the nation of Eswatini. We operate a residential childcare program for orphaned and/or vulnerable children. We believe that children should grow up in a home not an institutionalised orphanage.

Our model places the child in a family style community equipped with love, spiritual guidance, education and healthcare. We also run residential rehabilitation programs at our men’s centre and women’s centre for those affected by addiction, abuse and poverty. The 12 month program works to restore and rebuild the individual, and then give them the skills they need to re-enter the workforce and thrive. Our goal is to become a self-sustaining organisation. We run several enterprises, creating our own income stream, while employing the people of Eswatini. Our enterprises currently consist of: hospitality, honey, dairy, bakery and essential oils. Finally, we have developed an initiative to reach the rural areas of the country, most affected by poverty. The ICBC model (in community by community) consists of: a church plant, a preschool and a water source - all powered by solar energy which holistically cares for the local community. We currently have 28 ICBC sites across the country, each spanning a 5 mile radius.

Celebrating a special milestone!

Congratulations to Noncedo, one of the students in our Non-Formal Education programme, on completing a one-year Fashion and Sewing course through Sebenta School.

We’re so proud of her hard work and creativity. Even more impressive, both the dress she is wearing and her graduation gown were designed and made by her!

It’s always encouraging to see young people growing in confidence, developing new skills, and reaching their goals. Well done, Noncedo!

We’re amazed and so grateful that a simple church cake sale raised an incredible £717.79 for Challenge Ministries UK 💛🍰

A huge thank you to everyone at Grace Church Shrewsbury who baked, bought, donated, chatted, encouraged, and gave so generously.

Moments like this remind us that fundraising doesn’t always have to be complicated. Sometimes a few cakes, a willing community, and generous hearts can make a real difference 🙏🏼

Every pound raised helps support our ongoing work and partnerships in Eswatini — investing in children, families, leadership development, and long-term community transformation.

Could your church do something similar?!

This week, Amy had the joy of visiting Manor Drive Primary Academy in Peterborough for a school assembly all about life in Eswatini 🇸🇿

Through interactive questions, storytelling, and even a water-carrying challenge, the children learned about the daily realities faced by families in eSwatini. We love creating opportunities for young people to grow in empathy, awareness, and compassion in fun and engaging ways.

A huge thank you to Manor Drive Primary for welcoming us so warmly 💛

If your school would like to partner with Challenge Ministries UK, whether through assemblies, fundraising, mission trips, or simply learning more about our work — we’d love to hear from you.

Or perhaps you know a school that might enjoy connecting with us? Introductions are always welcome ✨

Something exciting is on the way!

Very soon, this space will become a place where products from our In Community By Community (ICBC) sites are displayed and made available to purchase.
From mealie-meal and fresh vegetables to other locally produced goods, this initiative will empower and bring sustainability to our local communities.

We can’t wait to share more with you.

After a beautiful sunny Easter weekend in Bulembu, the rain has arrived today.
A gentle change of pace as the mist and rain settle over the valley.

We’re deeply saddened to share that our co-founder Helen Ward went to be with the Lord on the evening of 24th March 2026, surrounded by her family 💛

Helen lived a life of extraordinary faith, love, and service — pouring herself into her family, the church, and the work of Challenge Ministries over many years. Her legacy is one that will continue to shape lives for generations to come.

If you would like to read the full message from the family, you can do so here:

In honour of Helen’s life, instead of flowers the Ward family have invited those who wish to do so to contribute towards a lasting legacy at Shiloh — the future home of Challenge Ministries and Bulembu’s childcare — through the planting of trees, pathways, and places for families to gather.

If you feel led to contribute to this legacy, you can find out more here:
