JCD Spotlight: Every Step Counts!
This week on JCD Spotlight, we’re highlighting how one piece of equipment is transforming lives at Meshi Children’s Rehabilitation Center in Jerusalem.
Thanks to a grant from Jewish Child’s Day, Meshi’s physiotherapy department received a state-of-the-art rehabilitation treadmill—and it’s already making a remarkable difference.
Why It Matters:
👣 The treadmill starts at just 0.1 km/h, allowing children with severe motor impairments to begin gait training with safety and dignity.
⚖️ Its unweighting system supports children who would otherwise be unable to stand or walk.
🏃♀️ Backward walking and incline functions are used to build strength, balance, and posture.
This is not just equipment. It’s a tool of independence, progress, and hope for children with complex needs.
Every day, 14 physiotherapists use the treadmill to support children like:
💙 Yehuda, age 4, who is strengthening his lungs and heart through gentle walking.
💙 Yael, age 5, who lives with cerebral palsy and is working on her speed and mobility to thrive in community life.
Meshi is just one of over 100 projects supported by Jewish Child’s Day, ensuring that children in the UK and Israel have access to the tools, therapies and care they need to reach their full potential.
