What does a week at the Street Soccer Academy actually look like?

Football, workshops, conversations, relationships and experiences that all form part of the same programme.

Across the twelve weeks, young people have opportunities to build confidence, recognise their strengths, develop trust and learn more about themselves in different environments.

What happens on the pitch can shape conversations in the workshop, while learning from the workshop can be explored and reinforced through football.

That is what makes the Academy experience so powerful.

A full 12 week programme combining football, mentoring and personal development, delivered by club community organisations across the country with support from Street Soccer Foundation throughout.

The National Street Soccer Academy is designed to help young people build confidence, strengthen relationships, recognise their strengths and develop greater belief in themselves and their future.

Applications are now open for club community organisations to become delivery partners.

Football is part of the experience. So are the relationships, learning and opportunities that grow around it.

The National Street Soccer Academy is our award winning 12 week programme for young people facing barriers, disadvantage and instability.

Across the football pitch, workshops and wider Academy environment, young people are supported to build confidence, develop relationships, recognise their strengths and create greater belief in what is possible.

Applications are now open for charitable and community organisations to deliver the National Street Soccer Academy this Autumn and Winter.

By becoming an Academy delivery partner, your organisation can bring the programme into your community and become part of a growing national network creating opportunities for young people through football.

At the final whistle, one player is down and another is there to help him back to his feet.

An arm around a shoulder. A quiet word. One young person supporting another.

These moments matter.

Through football, relationships are built, trust can grow and a group of individuals can begin to feel like a team.

That sense of connection and belonging sits at the heart of Street Soccer Foundation. Football creates the environment, but it is the experiences, relationships and support within it that can make a lasting difference.

That determination is already there. Our role is to help create the environment, relationships and opportunities that allow it to grow.

Football helps create connection. Relationships build trust. Experiences create opportunities to grow in confidence, recognise strengths and begin to see new possibilities.

“I feel like I'm not the best talker, or I'm slightly more introverted. But the programme has helped me get out of my shell.”

One of our young people arrived at the Street Soccer Foundation Academy describing themselves as quiet and introverted.

Twelve weeks may not sound like a long time, but the right environment, relationships and experiences can begin to change how someone feels about themselves and what they believe is possible.

By the end of the programme, they described it as a lifeline. In their words, “something that will stay with me for the rest of my life.”

That is what sits at the heart of the Street Soccer Academy. Football brings young people together, but confidence, connection and belonging are where meaningful change can begin.

What happens at a Street Soccer Foundation Academy beyond the football?

Development continues in a different environment.

Throughout the Academy Programme, the pitch and the workshop work together.

Football creates opportunities to build trust, relationships, confidence and self awareness through real experiences. The workshop creates space to reflect on those experiences, recognise personal strengths, explore mindset and begin setting goals for what comes next.

Neither environment stands alone. Each can strengthen the learning taking place in the other.
For young people who may have lost confidence or belief in what is possible, those experiences can begin to change how they see themselves and their future.

Street Soccer has never simply been about football. It is about using football, education and relationships to help create meaningful change.

The best people to tell you what the Academy Programme can mean are the young people who have experienced it themselves.

Their message to the next group is simple: embrace the opportunity.
For some, it can be the start of something genuinely life changing - building confidence, creating new connections and opening up possibilities through football.
