Putney Arts Theatre

Putney Arts Theatre Putney Arts Theatre has been a thriving arts space in the heart of Putney for over 50 years. Home to resident groups Putney Theatre Company & G64 Youth Theatre

We are a community theatre. We make work that is any and sometimes all of the following: bold, adventurous, challenging, classic, new and sometimes more than a little bit silly. Above all, our work always strives to be of the highest standard. We are driven by a community of active members that includes local Putney residents, people from the borough of Wandsworth and from further afield throughou

t London. Being the base of both Putney Theatre Company and Group 64 Youth Theatre, we are driven by the hard work of our adult members and the playful experimentation of our youth. Formed in 1964 out of the coming together of a couple of local community drama groups, we began life as Group 64. 1968 saw us find a home in the old union church which we continue to inhabit, gaining the freehold in the late 1990s with the help of a Lottery/Arts Council grant. Throughout the years our plans for the building, acts of refurbishment and artistic output continued to expand alongside each other. In 1999 we brought Putney Players into our community and they became Putney Theatre Company with Group 64 looking after the dramatic pursuits of our young people. The same year we also recruited our first member of full-time staff, our General Manager, Marie Thackwell. Since then we have continued to grow in membership and the number and scope of the productions we stage. We continue to remain ambitious with our plans and this is reflected in the hard work of our incredibly dedicated membership of volunteers and the engagement of our small team of staff. Click here to find out more about our rich history. We are proud of what we do and the quality of theatre delivered, and we always want to do more. Our aim is to provide a place of creative freedom for everyone involved in using the building for productions, classes and as audience members, providing an artistic home for residents of Putney, the larger Wandsworth borough and Greater London. We welcome anyone and everyone from 4 years old and up to come and join us.

It's the last chance to catch Tom Stoppard's absurdist tragicomedy at Putney Arts Theatre (London SW15) today.

Two shows at 3pm & 7:45pm and both have availability. Presented in traverse and no allocated seating means a good view for all!

Audiences have loved it this week and so have the critics. Just a couple of snippets from the review by markaspen.com and we are grateful Heather found time to join us on opening night.

Join us as Rosencrantz & Guildenstern muse on life, chance, and the meaning of it all whilst caught up in Hamlet's story.

The Tragedians may have few words but have a huge impact on the storytelling and action. In turns sinister and comedic and always portentous so pay close attention as they weave their way in and out of the narrative.

They are also having a jolly good time as are our audiences. Just 16 tickets left for tonight's performance so hurry to get yours via link in our bio.

🎭💀 It's OPENING NIGHT 💀🎭

Break a leg to the cast & crew of Tom Stoppard's 'Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead'.

It looks great, the cast are buzzing, quite a few will die repeatedly over the week and it's time for our audiences to enjoy the show.

Tonight's performance has no more space (had to edit due to inordinate amount of fraudulent 'we suddenly can't go/have spare tickets' comments which the previous words bring out) but tickets available for the rest of the week.
The ONLY way to get tickets is via our Box Office so all returns will be handled there - ignore any scam bots in the comments section!
